Round in the Chamber?

My response was, “Always carry one in the chamber, not having one in does not compute with me.” My reason for saying this is easy, that is how I train. SFC Scarborough responded by stating that he does not feel safe with a round in the chamber, but that is how he trains. Now my thoughts are really trying to make sense of this, but then again, training prepares you for a serious encounter… right?

I lost all my weapons in a boating accident. But if I carried, I would always keep one in the chamber. Lost my grenades in the same boating accident.

You are a liar. You have no honor, and your arguments are so weak you must resort to making up lies. Prayers that your family can overcome the shame that they feel in being related to you.

I like that retort.
I'm going to steal it and probably use it elsewhere.
Thanks.
(I do foresee no credit to its' author being given)

“...cross dressing event.”

I was in ROTC in college, they passed out uniforms the first day. The second day I thought my khaki short-sleeved shirt looked good with bluejeans. I was about half-way across campus when some older ROTC guy chewed me out for being out of uniform.

Made me take off the shirt and run back to my dorm to get changed. (Late for class.)

ANYHOOO - by wearing those shoes - they were out of uniform. From my limited experience, that’s a pretty big deal.

Depends on if you are planning to drop your pistol, yes?

Depends on the pistol. Most modern guns have features that make a drop-induced firing pretty slim.

I carry with one in the tube as does my wife. Hers has a safety, my carry pieces do not - they have the really awkward long trigger pull and when cocked, the firing pin spring is under very light tension and there is a gate that prevents it from making contact with the round. Pulling the trigger turns a cam that fully tensions the firing pin and finally removes the gate from the path.

The only reason I don't keep one chambered in my 1911 is to save spring pressure - it's 101 years old and I treat it "special".

I wonder how many never train. I’m rural so the range is out the back door. I also will draw and dry fire repeatedly while watching TV in the evening.

Why not just draw and fire indoors? That's what Sherlock Holmes used to do, and it works just fine. [A paper box from a ream of paper, filled with used paper, junk mail, and other neatly stacked papers will stop just about anything, even a .308 rifle round.]

I fear nothing. That’s why I don’t carry.

I fear nothing. That’s because I carry a flame-thrower. I don't worry about missing if I have to shoot.

Yup. If totin’ make you feel all bowed up, you missed the point. If anything, for me anyway, I try to become even less conspicuous or low key or whatever. It is a highly tightened up responsibility and I don’t think there are many that want to drop the hammer unless there is no other option. If someone is itchin’ to pop somebody, well...............

I am white and my sister just moved to New Orleans. I am looking forward to many visits. Not being frightened by black people gives me a lot of space to move around in, and a lot of recreational opportunities.

Black people do not scare me. Criminals of any color scare me. By the way I am white and married to a Mexican. I have no racial prejudice but have a great regard for my life.

Years ago I lived in New Orleans and know of which I speak.

Good luck in the 9th ward, I promise it will be exciting.

Congratulations! You live in a rare community. Enjoy it while it lasts.

But, be aware and careful when you leave your "shelter"...

1911. Round in the chamber. Hammer cocked. Safety on.

I'm not a fan of revolvers, but were I to carry one, it would be DA with all chambers loaded.
