A HIGH-profile SBS presenter has come under fire for a vicious public attack on Australian Diggers in which he implied that Anzacs were rapists and terrorists.
SBS soccer reporter Scott McIntyres rant on social media late on Anzac Day has been drawn outrage from Australian leaders, including Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull who labelled his comments despicable.
Difficult to think of more offensive or inappropriate comments, Mr Turnbull tweeted.
Despicable remarks which deserve to be condemned.

The Managing Director of SBS has already come out and said McIntyre’s comments do not reflect the view of the network. I think there’s a very good chance they will get rid of him - this goes too far even for them, and that’s saying something.
That would have been, oh what would be a “good” euphemism...ah: tucked in for a really long nap.
A search engine is your friend.
Thanks to everyone who replied. I learned some history today! And from what I learned, that reporter dude is a total friggin’ jerk! He’ll probably have a contract with MSNBC by the end of the week.
This dickhead has an address. I suggest some Diggers learn it and pay him a visit. Perhaps several. It’s long past time asshats like this pay a price.

I am going to bets scot mcintire is one of those guys that would soil himself if challenged.
Yeah, these turds are real brave on their tweet machines....
Just that Canadians either were very reticent - or more likely uninformed of the few who went to Gallipoli.
Hope you will not mind this comment.
Years of propaganda have ruined western nations. Only people of European ancestry seem to despise and tear down their own history and heroes.
Good.
Very good.
Looks like SBS means
Special Broadcasting Service
Glad hes sacked. This kind of attack needs pushback up to and including a good beating.

Not at all - and I was unaware of the presence of Newfoundlanders at Gallipoli so I thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Part of the issue may be that in 1915, Newfoundland was not part of Canada - it remained a colony until 1907 when it became a self governing Dominion and only confederated with Canada in 1949. Still the history of Newfoundland is part of the history of Canada now as well and Canadians have every right to be proud of this history.
I suppose he would call the Japanese invasion of Manchuria just a bit of slap and tickle! That boy is a regular nincompoop.
Australian Diggers because they take their objective and dig in!
Your last paragraph adds to my knowledge and is a point well taken here.
Signal sent by General Sir Ian Hamilton, Commander, Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, to Lieutenant-General William Birdwood, Commander, Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, on 25th April 1915, after the initial landings.
Probably not the actual reason, Australian troops are known as 'Diggers' (the term was probably already in use) but very relevant to why the term is considered important.
This sounds like Australia's version of our NPR.
