A HIGH-profile SBS presenter has come under fire for a vicious public attack on Australian Diggers in which he implied that Anzacs were rapists and terrorists.
SBS soccer reporter Scott McIntyres rant on social media late on Anzac Day has been drawn outrage from Australian leaders, including Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull who labelled his comments despicable.
Difficult to think of more offensive or inappropriate comments, Mr Turnbull tweeted.
Despicable remarks which deserve to be condemned.

SBS is a partially government funded television and radio network in Australia. The intent behind it is to ensure that minority groups have a chance to be heard and to hear alternative viewpoints that might not be viable on commercial media, but it has an overwhelmingly left wing slant. Even by their standards, though, this is beyond the pale, especially on the day when Australia honours those in the defence of our nation and her allies.
The sickness spreads...
“The sickness spreads...”
Are these scu&bags getting desperate or are they feeling their oats and sensing victory?
Just asking.
IMHO
Well its hard for me to follow this..First off, I don’t know what Austrailian Diggers are (a sports team?). I never heard of Anzac (sounds like a new antidepressant). And finally, do the Austrailians think they are the ones who dropped the bomb on Hiroshima and Nakasaki?
Arrogant, nasty and ignorant is no way to go through life, Scott.
What a jerk!
ANZAC was the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps - the first large scale unit of both countries to see battle after they achieved independence from the United Kingdom. Yesterday was the 100th Anniversary of the first time they went into battle at Gallipoli, Turkey - it's referred to as ANZAC Day and is one of the most significant days in the history of both nations.
And the tweet about Hiroshima and Nagasaki explicitly referred to 'this nation & their allies' - the US being the ally that actually dropped the bombs, of course.
“Austrailian Diggers”
Australian soldiers.
“Anzac”
WWI expeditionary forces of Australia and New Zealand if I am not mistaken.
“Diggers” is the Aussie equivalent of “Doughboys.”
Gallipoli was a great movie. As was The Year of Living Dangerously. IMO, two of the best movies Mel starred in.
I did not know any of this. I really appreciate this information, now I can make sense of this story, and this fellow McIntyre is way out of line ;/
Australia, New Zealand and Canada, I believe.
One thing that even this country does not accept. Freedom of speech does NOT mandate a guarantee to be heard.
It is official, Scott McIntyre would prefer to have taken the stroll at Bataan, vacationed in Nanking, and relaxed in Buchenwald and Auschwitz.
Or murdered in the Killing Fields.
I hope you will all see to it that the SBS finds a new footy reporter...
“Arrogant, nasty and ignorant is no way to go through life, Scott.”
Exactly. Makes you want to pop him hard in the mouth, and when you have his undivided attention, tell him to grow up, educate himself, and act like an adult.
Sending ignorant, insulting, juvenile “tweets” out (or FB posts, I cannot tell which). How apropos... I would like to see him say the exact same things face-to-face to an old Anzac veteran... both before and after pictures.
I looked these items up and a Digger is a soldier from the Anzac, Austraila-New Zealand Army Corp. I did not know these terms but I did know a little about Gallipoli, which started 100 years ago this month and was a meat grinder, with more than 8,000 dead over 8 months.
No - Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
Canada had a similar formation known as the Canadian Corps which served with distinction in many battles in France, but was not part of the Gallipoli landings. The first Canadian troops of the First World War went into battle in March 1915 at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, just over a month before Gallipoli.
