Professor at Texas A&M Galveston fails entire class

A professor at Texas A&M Galveston failed an entire class, and he outlined his reasons in a fiery email sent to those students.

But the university won't quite be backing up the professor's actions.

In the email professor Irwin Horwitz sent to his students, he called them a disgrace to the school. He said he will no longer be teaching the course and will be giving everyone in the class a failing grade.

"Enough was enough," Horwitz said.

After what he calls a semester of disrespect, backstabbing, lying, and cheating, Horwitz had all he could take.

"Yesterday I reached the breaking point," he said.

He sent a lengthy email to his Strategic Management class explaining that they would all be failing the course. He said the students proved to be incompetent and lack the maturity level to enter the workforce.

"It became apparent that they couldn't do some of the most simple and basic things they should have been able to do," said Horwitz.

In the email he cited examples of students cheating, telling him to "chill out," and inappropriate conduct. He said students spread untrue rumors about him online, and he said at one point he even felt the need to have police protection in class.

"I was dealing with cheating, dealing with individuals swearing at me both in and out of class, it got to the point that the school had to put security guards at that class and another class," said Horowitz.

Someone needs to get him to a doctor to be treated. His behavior is over the top and he might be having a mental break down.

I’m inclined to side with the teacher here.

He’ll be replaced with someone who doesn’t understand what the fuss is all about.

Lots of Mexican citizens in those classes that the taxpayers of Texas are subsidizing with in-state tuition, even though they shouldn’t be in this country. They are the La Raza Dreamers. who think Texas should belong to Mexico. Thanks to Rick Perry, they are paying less for their schooling than kids from OK or LA do when they come to Texas state universities.

...which at least narrows it down to one of the left's pet groups.

For some strange reason I think this was more a professor issue than a student issue.

Really?

My husband deals with this on a daily basis. Students don’t want to work and want an easy grade. We also have an unlisted tel number because they would call the house wanting to know grades and trying to beg.

Then again could be college has become the new High School... where kids not qualified to be in 6th grade are moved up.

Also, liars and cheaters sounds like democrats...

disrespect, backstabbing, lying, and cheating,

Sounds like an academic who doesn't understand what it takes to be a success in big business these days. He certainly doesn't have any future on Wall Street.

Yeah, people have no idea how bad it is inside the schools now. I’m sure the chaos in the high schools is filtering into the crappy state colleges. Teachers routinely deal with threats and violence in standard public high schools, not just in the ghetto.

The fact is, companies are importing workers of all skill levels because too many millennials are terrible employees, well as students. This is cultural.

I actually witness a professor “losing it”, a long time ago, and was fortunately able to bail out of the class before it fell apart. The poor man had suffered a stroke, which gave him severely slurred speech that would often fade to inaudible, and he could not hear students asking him questions. But he insisted on trying to continue to teach.

Eventually a group of his students approached his department chairman, asserting that he needed medical help or else there was a good chance he would just drop dead in class. This finally punched through the haze, and he was replaced for the rest of the semester.

You cheat at A&M you get thrown out. The first person he caught cheating would have ended it right there and then.

Years ago I had a superintendent job at TAMG pulling the old Todd Shipyard rails and putting in a new entrance with the big fancy sign monument.
Three things I know. Every summer they host an oceanographiy camp for high schoolers. They sent the kids to a beach, where over 60% had to go to hospital for jellyfish stings. Aggies!
While pulling rails and the ballast, there were 3 cars that drove thru the barricades into our hole 6’ deep.
All 3 got mad, asking why was I digging a hole for them to drive thru the barricades, and drive into the hole.
Aggies.
The wade fishing on the Pelican Island side, just north of the bridge is AWESOME when the tide is moving!
