One of the first things Cruz may have to do on the campaign trail is explain to his social conservative base why in 2009, while preparing to run for state attorney general, he took more than $250,000 in campaign funds from out-of-state investment bankers who supported legalizing gay marriage. Cruz in February introduced legislation to leave same-sex marriage up to the states, a clear move to cut off the U.S. Supreme Court before it rules on the issue.
Sounds like it had little impact on Cruz's views on gay marriage. Since both donors are conservatives on many issues, I would say they donated to Cruz because he mirrored their values on those issues, not gay marriage.

I had never seen, read, nor heard of the Texas Monthly before one of your fellow Cruz fans who posted above you asked for references. The named publication came up and had specifics. If we are only going to have articles from conservative outlets some 90 % or more of the print media articles already posted would not have been posted.
