BREAKING NEWS At least 71 people died after a powerful magnitude-7.9 earthquake shook Nepals capital and the densely populated Kathmandu Valley around noon Saturday, Nepal's Home Ministry says.
Sky News also reports that at least 50 people are trapped underneath rubble of the citys iconic Dharahara Tower, one of Kathmandus landmarks built by Nepals royal rulers in the 1800s and a UNESCO-recognized historical monument.

I remember sitting on a rooftop cafe just to the left overlooking the Square.....one of the prominent things to see in Kathmandu. Sad beyond belief.

Where are you getting these photos? Just curious because I have been reading about this nonstop and you seem to have photos that I do not see anywhere else. Particularly the one of Durbar Square.

I go pretty much go every where on line.....sometimes twitter will refer one to a site with photos....so I touch base there from time to time. Also word changing slightly will get others.... An example is...if you enter ‘napal earthquake’,then try ‘earthquake’,and ‘earthquake napal’....and once you get specific towns enter those....because people use different wordage when they put them up. I rarely use facebook for anything.
When you mentioned two cities last night you were interested about...I went first to twitter and simply entered those names. When I use a city name I also look for leads to others.
The difficulty is to find those which will copy .. if they've blocked that I have do go thru two more procedures to see if available somewhere else... so it can be time consuming. Additionally to make sure they aren't from a site we can't use.
Rueters and Getty has lots of great photos and Rueturs is known to have photo journalists on sites better than most...but we can't use those on FR. Sometimes I get on such a roll I forget to check so I suffer the consequences for three days thereafter. Mods are pretty strict about that.

I thought you were familiar with the area as you seemed to know the names well etc. It is a popular world wide attraction there....so it’s very sad those structucturs were so damaged. However Unesco has already said they will help with restoring those.

There is a specially trained rescue squad with dogs in Virginia, Fairfax I think. THey were interviewed packing up and getting ready to go in a day or two. I think something was said about getting there in 3 days. They also went to Haiti. Good people, wish them the best.
