Exclusive — Ted Cruz: Loretta Lynch Was Confirmed Because GOP Establishment Wanted Her
Breitbart ^ | 4/24/2015 | Matt Boyle

Posted on 04/24/2015 3:49:58 PM PDT by VinL

snip... Cruz said those Republicans responsible for confirming Lynch and all the Democrats violated their oaths of office, since Lynch has guaranteed that she will uphold President Obama’s lawlessness, including especially his executive amnesty. Cruz said:

"I have been leading the fight to stop the confirmation of Loretta Lynch—and the reason is simple: Ms. Lynch came before the Senate Judiciary Committee and refused to articulate any constitutional limits whatsoever on the authority of the president. When asked how she would differ from Eric Holder, the most partisan attorney general this nation has ever seen, she refused to state even a single difference. I had wanted to support Ms. Lynch’s confirmation precisely because Eric Holder has so undermined the Department of Justice, and like many others I was eager to see a new attorney general sworn in. But the answers Ms. Lynch gave to the Senate Judiciary Committee over an extended period of questions refused to acknowledge any limits on the president’s power, and she made clear that she intended to be a rubber stamp for unlimited executive power in the hands of President Obama. In my view, no senator—Democrat or Republican—could vote to confirm Ms. Lynch consistent with his or her oath of office. Some say, confirming Loretta Lynch means Eric Holder is no longer Attorney General. But there is a difference. Eric Holder began disregarding the law and abusing his office after he was confirmed. Ms. Lynch looked senators in the eye and told us she intends to disregard the law. For senators to vote to confirm an attorney general in that circumstance means they are complicit in the lawlessness.

... I would note that some of the press had a field day that I was not physically present for the final confirmation vote. For two months...

Every one of these snakes now has a primary planned for them.

Hope they enjoyed their largesse while it lasted.

I’m just shocked McCain got one right.

Don't be fooled by his vote. It was a 'free' vote for him because he knew she would be confirmed without his vote. He's just pretending to be 'conservative' again because he's going to have a primary opponent.  How did he vote on cloture?

John Cornyn (R-TX) What a piece of garbage. I'm glad I've never voted for him.

Surprisingly, McCain voted Nay on cloture in the Lynch nomination. He must be looking at all the petitions that have sprouted up around the Internet from various groups calling for his defeat in 2016. For example, the Replace John McCain petition started by the Senate Conservatives Fund. It's time to put on his conservative mask to fool all the GOP voters back in AZ.

So while I was not physically present, under Senate rules being
absent is the same thing as a no vote.

I did not know that, and now the Cruz haters do too.

I totally agree with Ted. The GOP wanted Lynch so they voted her in.

The only first step is to do what needs to be done. We all start another party and say that we did not leave the republican party. They left us.

I scold people when they say I am a republican. I am not!

I believe in the rule of law! not the rule of man.

Therefore, I AM A CONSERVATIVE!!!!!!

Ted Cruz is the only candidate that deserves our vote.

If FR had a LIKE button that sucker would be taking a whooping right about now.

It's time to put on his conservative mask to fool all the GOP voters back in AZ.

McCain is elected by democrats in Arizona. Democrats love the POS.

Can someone ping the Liberal-Republican supporters? I’d like to see them justify their “vote for the lesser evil” argument in the face of this development.

I don't doubt what you wrote.

Honestly, I had in mind my state of Texas and John Cornyn (I spit in his general direction) when I wrote that "conservative mask" snark.

Note that Cornyn voted for cloture on the Lynch nomination, ignoring the damning evidence against her, and then turned around to vote NO on confirmation so he could pad his phony conservative voting record. When Cornyn runs for reelection, he puts on his cowboy hat and rides the range as Big John, tough conservative, to deceive the uninformed voters. The guy is a complete fraud.

“I’m just shocked McCain got one right.”

Not really, he’s playing his old game of running to the right before re-election.

“That’s the only logical conclusion, since the only way she gets approved is if they approve of her.”

Or that they fear the media more than they fear their voters, and have no principles to speak of.

It’s easier to count the senators who voted with Cruz and Lee for the shutdown.

Yes, I think you’re right to point that out. I’ve noticed this dynamic from him before, and it’s a valid point to discuss.

I do think he uses this tactic so he can point to this record and claim it’s not so bad.

That and as another FReeper pointed out, he does this when the vote is already a certainty too. He doesn’t have to out himself on this one, because his natural leanings are prevailing without his vote.
