While intermarriage is a fact, and stereotypically Joe can imply that Jewish mom's want their sons to be surgeons, lawyers, cpa, but they don't want them to marry outside of their faith. Besides, there are Irish Catholic surgeons, what's wrong with them.

I’ve heard more than once, Irish women saying favorable things about marrying Jewish for themselves or their daughters. Each time it comes from a lifetime, or seemingly, of dealing with drinking or gambling
