BROCKTON, Mass. - Authorities have identified a teenager stabbed to death during a basketball court melee in Brockton and say an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect.
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz says 18-year-old Ywron Martins of Brockton died at a hospital Wednesday night after being stabbed earlier in the evening at the James Edgar Playground. Cruz says two other people stabbed in the fight are expected to survive their injuries.

BROCKTON – Raul Lopes cried as he looked at the basketball court where his 18-year-old nephew, Ywron Martins, was stabbed to death in Brockton Wednesday night.
Lopes, 54, of Brockton, visited the James Edgar Playground Thursday morning with his son to see where Martins, 18, was killed — and seek answers.
“We know nothing. I’m at work and they called and said he was fighting and he got some injury and they took him to the hospital,” Lopes said, “and they called us and said he passed away. That’s all we know.”
I didn’t know Amish folk were so passionate about basketball.
I don’t see the big deal. The white kid is Aaron (Aye Aye Ron), and the black kid is Why Dubya Ron. Probably named after George W. Bush.

People think I am a snob and a racist because I prefer my daughter play water polo and golf. Both sports have unfilled scholarships for women (I do tell her an academic scholarship is preferable to a sports scholarship).
The other issue is the people that play water polo and golf are usually of a higher socio-economic group, the kid of people I would prefer she associate with. Part of her family want her to play basketball, a sport that is extremely competitive with regards to scholarships. Moreover, the sport has an inordinate number of questionable people playing it. Oddly, there are fewer stabbings at polo and golf events than certain other sports. Watching professional basketball, one could believe they were watching a game in the yard at San Quentin.
I am also criticized for teaching her Latin instead of Spanish. I am told she needs Spanish. IN my experience, a command of Spanish in the US allows you to manage laborers where as a command of Latin gives you an understanding of the structure of English, the root word of roughly 65% of English words and 70-80% of Spanish and Italian (If you know Latin, Spanish and Italian are not difficult to learn). Furthermore, Latin literature is more important to understanding western culture than Spanish lit. Also, Latin give you an understanding of scientific and medical terms.
