Sen. David Vitter’s Obamacare subpoena bid doomed by five GOP defections
The Washington Times ^ | April 23, 2015 | By Tom Howell Jr.

Republican Sen. David Vitter’s bid to subpoena details about Congress’s treatment under Obamacare bitterly divided his own party Thursday, with five GOP senators balking at his attempt to force the D.C. health exchange to name who signed off on Capitol Hill’s use of the city’s insurance portal.

Mr. Vitter, of Louisiana and chairman of the Small Business Committee, swiftly condemned his colleagues for voting with committee Democrats to reject his maneuver, 5 to 14.

He said Congress’s arrangement with the city’s small-business exchange, or “SHOP,” provides lawmakers and staff with financial perks above and beyond what regular Obamacare customers can get.

“The message is clear: Congress should be able to lie so that members can get a special Obamacare subsidy unavailable to anyone else at that income level,” he said. “Designating the House and Senate as ‘small businesses’ with 45 employees is not right. And we owe it to our constituents to find out how this was permitted to happen.”

For months Mr. Vitter has tried to find out who signed House and Senate application papers to use the exchange, but D.C. officials said privacy laws compelled them to black out the names.

With no Democratic support in hand, Mr. Vitter needed all 10 of the committee’s Republicans to sign off on the subpoena. But several were puzzled by the move.

Never turn your back on the GOP.

Keep them right in front of you and watch their hands at all times.

Ayotte - NH; ok, I knew she was in the bag with the criminals, but: Enzi - WY; Fischer - NE; Paul - KY; Risch - ID - these are not exactly blue states! WTF! The corruption of the federal government in our once-great nation goes from top to bottom. What is to become of us? Of our children?

Or Cochran. That man has clearly been senile for a while, and could have been made to do almost anything and not know what he’s doing.

Enzi, Risch, Paul, Fischer, and Ayotte.

Most of the GOP Senators are Democrats in R jerseys.

Paul’s vote here is a surprise, but then again he’s become Mitch’s bitch.

Vitter, Sessions, Cruz, Lee, .......

That’s all I can come up with that are clearly on our side.
The GOP Senate is mostly Democrats in R jerseys.
McConnell, Cochran and Graham should all have gotten the Eric Cantor treatment. We in the VA-7 showed how it’s done.
Term limits are in the hands of the voters.

So tell me again how things were going to change after Republicans got control of the Senate?

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Ayotte is apparently now a RAT. As a resident of New Hampshire and a Veteran, I am supremely disgusted with her and will be actively working to remove her in the primary.

If she is the GOPe candidate for Senate, I will not vote for her or any other RAT!

“D.C. officials said privacy laws compelled them to black out the names”

Bullcr@p! Privacy laws do not apply to elected officials that act in their official capacity and those items are not related to national security matters.
