At New York Reception, Ted Cruz Is Said to Strike Different Tone Toward Gays

[Admin note] Title and text changed at source. New title: "Ted Cruz Is Guest of Two Gay Businessmen"
Senator Ted Cruz, the Republican presidential candidate, has positioned himself as a strong opponent to same-sex marriage, urging pastors nationwide to preach in support of marriage as an institution between a man and a woman, which he said was “ordained by God.”

But on Wednesday night, at a reception for him at the Manhattan apartment of two prominent gay hoteliers, the Texas senator struck quite a different tone.

During the gathering, according to two attendees, Mr. Cruz said he would have no problem if one of his daughters was gay. He did not mention his opposition to same-sex marriage, saying only that marriage is an issue that should be left to the states.

The dinner and “fireside chat” for about a dozen people with Mr. Cruz and his wife, Heidi, was at the Central Park South penthouse of Mati Weiderpass and Ian Reisner, longtime business partners who were once a couple and who have been pioneers in the gay hospitality industry.

“Ted Cruz said, ‘If one of my daughters was gay, I would love them just as much,’” recalled Mr. Reisner, a same-sex marriage proponent who described himself as simply an attendee at Mr. Weiderpass’s event.

Mr. Reisner and Kalman Sporn, who advises Mr. Cruz’s Middle East team and served as the moderator for the evening, said that the senator told the group that marriage should be left up to the states.

He did not bring up his own opposition to same-sex marriage during the evening, which focused mainly on foreign policy.

An aide to Mr. Cruz, reached on Thursday, reiterated that the senator is opposed to same-sex marriage.

Mr. Cruz has honed his reputation as a grassroots firebrand, who was strongly supportive of the Indiana religious freedom law that was recently blasted as discriminatory by gay rights activists. [snip]

Mr. Cruz said he would have no problem if one of his daughters was gay... “Ted Cruz said, ‘If one of my daughters was gay, I would love them just as much,’...

Totally different comments. The problem is that the New York Times writers have no idea what it is to be a Christian, and no understanding of Christianity.
They don't understand that an act of love (and loving one's neighbor as himself) can, and should, include warning them of the eternity in hell that awaits those who don't repent from open sin.

'Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins might be blotted out when the time of refreshing cometh from the appearance of our Lord'

That’s for what happens to sinners who totally reject Christ and their final destiny.

Christ came not for the righteous, but came for sinners to repent.

He came for that which was lost.

God’s hand of mercy and grace is still extended to the lost sinner, but that window of oppertunity is fast approaching to where it will close.

Jesus said that God sent not his son into the world to condemn it, but to save it through his son.

Use a solar panel and you'll never have that problem again. You can also upgrade to the windmill version.

Not really.

YOU’RE the one who couldn’t simply post: “Oops, sorry, I missed your sarcasm” to the person you originally attacked.

You’re the one who seemed to lash out at anyone who pointed out to you that you misinterpreted his post, no matter how innocuously they pointed it out.

This is all on you, chief.

Only thing touchy about me this morning was when my right index finger touch the trigger on my shotgun. Made a new friend, named Jake Rio. He’s cooling his spurs in my freezer at the moment.

Yes, I took the comment as #3. And really, if he didn’t mean it is as sarcasm, would any amount of snarky replies change his mind? What do they say about mud wrestling with a pig?

I think, Bob, that many are going to collapse when their candidate has to move away from diapering only the base. If you expect your candidate to diaper only you, all the way through the campaign, you will be sorely disappointed.

Here, on this thread, is the perfect example. You see many already hyperventilating over one damn sentence that is both foggy and unclear. Good GRIEF.

My point was that just wait until the campaigns actually begin. If you already think this little duster amounts to anything, you may as well get your smelling salts for what is coming.

There is a new strain of HIV discover in Cuba I think that is vastly more aggressive than the current strain.

Your not the only one who shares that same opinion or feeling about that.

But this whole thing could open up like a Pandora’s box with smokers, druggies, reckless drivers.

One thing I do want to see be stopped is Social Security benifits being given out to druggies...

Good points. I drove a cab on Staten Island as a second job and Jon Stewart is (shockingly) wrong in his assertion that ALL food stamps go to those who need it.
It wasn't infrequent that druggies were on SNAP and would trade anything they could for a hit. They were also on welfare and a million other things and the only thing i saw wrong with them was they were on drugs. But it is typical of those who've NEVER entered a bad neighborhood to pontificate about their needs.

The NYSlimes seems a tad obsessed with Senator Cruz these days. And with gayness, of course.

1 of my daughters is a lesbian, my wife and I love her, we also have no problem with her sexual orientation. In our experience she was born that way.

She has been with her partner for 12 years now. She is against Gay Marriage,as am I. she merely wants to be left alone to live her life.

OK folks, claim down from being shell shocked by the media’s lies, distortions, propaganda.

It ain’t like Ted Cruz is advocating that we need to extend our tent pegs and make our tent bigger as some “ other “ GOP canadates are advocation in accepting and embrace the gay movement or agenda, or gay marriage into the GOP.
