Obama: People Need Perspective; There’s Less Violence Around The World Than 40 Years Ago...?
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 04/21/15 | Daniel Bassali

President Obama said he wanted Americans to gain perspective and be thankful there is less violence now than there was during the Cold War.

Obama predicted Islam’s process to rid itself of extremism would be a “generational project,” he said in an interview with Chris Matthews.

“I remind people that, you know, there actually is probably less war and less violence around the world today than there might have been 30, 40 years ago. It doesn’t make it any less painful but things can get better,” Obama said.

The president set a high standard for himself: at least the United States is not involved in another Cold War. Obama did not compare his time in the White House with that of his predecessors. Instead, he portrayed his six years in a more promising point of view by contrasting it with some of the most violent and politically complex times in modern world history.

“What wars were fought between 1975 and 1985?”

I dunno, the leftist Pol Pot killed over a third of the population of Cambodia or something

There’s Less Violence Around The World Than 40 Years Ago and there's no flies in the White House...

The need to practically disrobe, receive electronic imaging scans, and be threatened by pat-downs every time we fly somewhere certainly makes me feel safe.

Clearly supports the latest (yesterday) study that shows pot-smoking causes memory distortions...

You are right. There have been at least a dozen smaller attacks of which Fort Hood is the most memorable, especially since our dunce in the White House refused to label it as a terrorist attack.

Funny how he is quick to recall the Crusades [which were a defensive war], and the Inquisition, which was about 500 years ago. He could have added Oliver Cromwell’s persecution of the Irish - but these were all a long time ago.

Single events seem to blend together and we easily forget them but I cannot forget Theo van Gogh and the British bugler(?), his name escapes me right now- Lee Rigby?; Hacked to death on the streets of London because he was wearing a British uniform.

In 1975, I don’t remember Islamic State or Hoko Barum or Al Quida or the Taliban. Funny, isn’t it. But then Obama knows everything. Before he came along I thought my wife knew it all.

No. He is not insane. He is an affirmative action moron with an IQ below 100.

He can’t spell Syracuse and he doesn’t know how to pronounce corpsman. Maybe too much MJ affected his cognitive function.
