Sorry, but that’s just historically untrue.

While it is clear that the exact relationship between adult lover and adolescent beloved is not entirely clear, it is also perfectly clear that there was a sexual element involved.

It is celebrated in their art, plays, poetry and other writings. The degree of openness varied over time, but there is little doubt that during the “Golden Age” of Greece the primary sexual and emotional relationships for many upper-class men were homosexual in nature.

During this period, for example, portrayals of boys/young men in art outnumbers women something like 10:1. That’s because they were the ideal of sex and beauty.

Much like the similar disproportion of women vs. men on our magazine covers.

Today, beautiful young women are what sells. Back then it was beautiful young boys.

sorry but the facts are literally etched on stone. Men who were caught lying with a boy were stoned to death in ancient Athens. (this means Pericles reign etc) Adult males were exiled caught together were to be exiled for life.

They were considered “abnormal”.

The myth of acceptance was strictly a late 20th century academic creation of the university system.

An American academic who tried to argue alexander the great’s father (and by extension his son) were homosexuals had to flee for his life during his conference presentation.
