Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz Urges Pastors to Preach About Biblical Marriage

WASHINGTON –
Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz has sent a letter to tens of thousands of pastors nationwide, urging them to preach about biblical marriage the weekend before the U.S. Supreme Court is scheduled to hear oral arguments over states’ rights regarding the definition of marriage.

“On Tuesday, April 28, the United States Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments in favor of ‘same-sex marriage.’ How will the American church respond?” he asked. “The prophet Daniel described the people who know their God as people who do two things: display strength and take action (Daniel 11:32).”

Cruz therefore asked that pastors deliver messages on biblical marriage on Sunday, April 26, and that they lead prayer services on the 28th as the oral arguments are considered. He exhorted Christians to cease being complacent about the matter.

“We know that marriage is intended to be sacred, beautiful, and nourishing. If you do not influence your congregation’s understanding of marriage, who will fill the void? Hollywood? Divorce courts?” he asked. “The church has not shared the truth about marriage well; it is time to repent and commit ourselves to courage on this front.”

Cruz, the son of an evangelical minister, then stated that the right side of history on the issue is God’s side.

“Regardless of what happens in the Supreme Court, or anywhere else, we know that the truth will never be obsolete. The union of man and woman in marriage will always be relevant,” he said. “That leaves us only one question. Will we be on the right side of history, the side occupied by the Author of history? Otherwise, we will fall victim to the fashions of the times.”

“Will we discard an institution, ordained by God, which has brought so much stability and happiness to the human family? Or will we stand in its support?” Cruz continued. “Rightly or wrongly, the Supreme Court will take a stand on marriage this summer. Let’s take ours now.”

Cruz’ letter was in support of an effort launched by David Lane of the American Renewal Project, who first proposed the preaching and prayer services.

As previously reported, Cruz mentioned the institution of marriage last month when he announced his candidacy for president of the United States at Liberty University.

“Instead of a federal government that wages an assault on our religious liberty, that goes after Hobby Lobby, that goes after the Little Sisters of the Poor, that goes after Liberty University, imagine a federal government that stands for the First Amendment rights of every American,” he stated. “Instead of a federal government that works to undermine our values, imagine a federal government that works to defend the sanctity of human life, and to uphold the sacrament of marriage.”

“There are people who wonder if faith is real,” Cruz said. “I can tell you, in my family there’s not a second of doubt, because were it not for the transformative love of Jesus Christ, I would not have been saved…”

While a liberal voter may vote against “gay marriage” (and this term should not be used) on a ballot proposition, he still votes for candidates over and over who are committed to this abomination.

Our eternal hope being inextricably tied to our immediate hope, and the hope for our children and their children, I believe it would be of some help to have a God inspired leader, and leaders.

Our Founders always intended for Godly men to hold the office of President of the United States..

The more I learn of Rafael Edward Cruz, the man, the more pleased I am, and the more assured I am that God has sent us one of His best...

Well, I have bad news and worse news:

The bad news: You’d be surprised how many 21st Century Christians think same-sex marriage is o.k. And, they say let the woman who has an abortion work it out with Jesus. Why these attitudes? Because many of them have gay kids and the ones with straight kids know that their kids have been a player in an abortion.

The worse news: They ones mentioned above are the professing Christians who vote. The “good” Christians don’t want to dirty their hands with politics. Besides, their candidate didn’t win the nomination. So, they just stay home and wait for Jesus to come.

I’ve been a “church person” for 47 years. I know church people, and, I’m telling you the truth.

No, you are telling what happens in your little world, apparently.

In my world, the facts are exactly opposite.

But thanks for sharing.

My “little world” has spanned 38 States and 17 Countries. Now, if you are in a church that the average age of the people in the congregation is 70 years old, you probably think most church members think like you. But, check out some churches with a Pastor under 40 years of age and a large Youth Group and take a poll. Did you know that 50% of Christian teens have pre-marital sex and Generation Y Christians between the ages of 25 and 35 (born between 1980 and 1990) approve of Same-sex Marriage to the tune of 62 percent? Extend your “little world” SoConPubbie; this is the 21st Century; sad to say. Wake up and smell the coffee.

The black oppression......It was what it was and it is over.
_____________________________________________________________

The oppression might be over but Segregation is still alive and well in the South. Any city over 75,000 population, the schools are only 3 percent White. Go to the suburbs and the schools are only 1 percent Black. Just sayin’.

I’m from NYC, visited the south once when I was young, so I cannot cast aspersions. I do know that forced mixing up here has led to the white kid acting worse. Don’t know if its cause and effect.

“He’s making a double or nothing bet ... on us.”

Yes. I agree with you.

He is calling out to:

2 Chronicles 7:14
“..and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

If God doesn’t get His necessary response we will know by Ted Cruz not getting the republican nomination and winning, and instead a RINO and democrat winning. This will show that the people of this land have not turned from their wicked ways and they desire more evilness and perversion. God will continue down a destructive path for our nation.

This will not be the fault of Ted Cruz. He is trying to stir the passions of the people back to God. If the people don’t respond it is because of the hardening of their hearts.

Go Cruz Go!!!!!

A lot of church people though are just plain liberal, and it would fool many to find out who are the liberals.

I may be the only one here but I don’t think he should be *asking* ministers to preach on something specific. That seems rather far from his balliwick. This is the first thing Cruz has done that I don’t feel like I can defend. :(

Based on 2014 returns, nothing is going to change much at all. McC said it wouldn’t in October 2014.
