Not arguing but that damage is more from the burn than explosives

Similar end result

Except in Dresden architectural hipsters if there were any coulda have preserved the historical facades to incorporate into the rebuild

JDAM AND MOAB don’t leave cast iron facades and fancy moulding work intact

Course we’re more likely to use precision don’t hurt folks bombs

Strange world no?

Massive tunnel busters and remote piloted missles and fighter bomber video game like force delivery

Versus WWII fire tornados from 1000s of bombs

Or good old fashioned B-52 carpet bombs in Arc Light which dropped on average 300 to 2000 sorties per month with 35000 and up pounds of ordnance per plane

Shock and Awe is a memory

It does appear that the damage from USAAC indeed did more damage with conventional bombing in WII

BUT WASNT MORE TONNAGE DROPPED IN INDOCHINA

” after three days of heavy bombardment by the RAF and USAAC”

I’m pretty sure that should be USAAF (we sure do discuss weighty issues around here).

The US Army Air Corp was predecessor to the US Army Air Force, which was created in June of 1941. The Air Corp name existed in some fashion until 1947 when the USAAF was spun off as its own service but I can’t find where the designation USAAC was still used after 1941.
