Since the American embassy in Yemen had been shut down, Mansour wound up calling the U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia. I told them there were about 75 families here waiting at the port, she recalled. My family has been waiting there for two weeks. We ran out of money, we ran out of food.
It was not the U.S. government that finally put Mansour and a handful of other refugees on that slow boat to Dijibouti it was CNN. The news network chartered a ship and rescued 15 Americans, who counted themselves very lucky to make it on board. CNN can get people out of Yemen, but the Obama Administration cant.
The State Department has been telling Americans to roll the dice and seek passage to Djibouti on foreign ships, while the embassy says it does not know who to contact to ensure such passage. Other Americans have been able to find seats on U.N. evacuation flights and Russian ships.
Most of them end up passing through Djibouti where, by all accounts, both the American embassy and host government have been doing an outstanding job of managing both American evacuees and Yemeni refugees coming across the border.

Abandoned by their president. God help America.
I agree. Whenever a republican takes over after a democrat there needs to be a review of all of the departments. There’s likely all sorts of administrative time bombs being set once the election is over. Then they just blame it on the next administration. Can’t trust them. They hate America.
That’s my take as well.
You can not fire anyone......they will keep doing what there doing....you would need to cut the funding of the department......
What the heck is wrong with DC. Just because Obama called it a success, now everyone has to walk on pins and needles, let Americans die by the dozens, just so the great Obama ego is not forced to face reality ? We cannot hurt his self esteem. So Americans have to die ? Emperor Zero was apparently a spot on term. He is Emperor of nothing.
Obama: “Every American that makes it to Djibouti alive is one that my side does not get to behead on the beaches in Yemen.”
I’m not meaning to start trouble, but...
Yemen has been on the “Don’t Go There” list for a long time.
The people stranded there are mostly Yemeni nationals who went anyway, despite the warnings.
Some are NOW American citizens, most are Yemeni people who happen to reside in America.
A few weeks I read about this, there was a line about the State Department didn’t want to commit American troops to the danger of getting them out because the people were warned. I cannot find the story, but I swear I read it.
These folks are not tourists, they should have known better.
I am sorry to ruffle any FReathers.
Maybe if they had ‘donated’ to the Clinton Foundation they wouldn’t have so much trouble...
