Dear Freeper,
Free Republic is, in my opinion, the best conservative news and discussion site on the web. It has been the best for so many years running, that I really cannot think of any other site that comes close. I've gone to other news outlets, conservative ones, and they allow you to comment on their articles, there's some possibility of those comments starting a discussion, and with great difficulty one can carry on that discussion.
With Free Republic it is automatic. The very nature of the software makes discussion possible, comments findable, and information attainable. It is night and day. Free Republic is a natural discussion interface, and to be honest with you....everything else is not.
This is also the only place I don't have a fair amount of what I post get deleted. I'm not real sure how I, a conservative, offend supposed conservatives moderators policing those various news sites, but I do. Those who know me over the years know that I'm not that much of a bomb thrower. For the most part I'm polite, and only every now and then do I get sarcastic.
Besides, the moderators on Free Republic are fairly indulgent. It has to be a racist or violent post to get taken down -- but we've had trolls try to get away with that around here -- and sometimes a poster gets excised from the group. Hail Viking Kitties.
YOU have donated to Free Republic recently. I probably don't need to give you a glowing report of the site. You would not have donated if it hadn't impressed you with its value.
HOWEVER, I often wonder why donors wait until far into a freepathon before they give. I'm sure there are answers that make sense: I get paid once a quarter, I procrastinate, my dog ate my cash, etc. Those are human responses, so I understand.
BUT, please consider simply giving NOW during this freepathon. Let's put this baby to rest. Let's let our 67 year old site provider breathe easy. Let's make a statement to the 'watchers'. The bottom line: let's just get it done.
So, you gave in the past, you're probably giving again, don't wait. Do it now.

I was going to ask church goers this morning each to pull three weeds from the church’s mulched flower beds. I forgot. It was raining here in south Ohio, so it didn’t matter. I’ll remember to tell them next week that their 3 weeds could pull up treasure.

Like I said before, this board has saved my life literally more than once while I’ve been sick. It has kept me from having depression from my sickness turn to severe depression. The people are great, smart, interesting, spiritual and funny. I will donate every month as much as I can. And I strongly believe this board is very important at this point in our country’s history. Plus I owe back taxes for mooching on the site for free for so many years. Shame on me. Please donate anything you can.

Giving even $5 a month keeps the freep-a-thons short. Although I would like to see them "roll in the monthlies" at the beginning of the freep-a-thon rather then somewhere in the middle.
