self

Posted on 04/18/2015 8:40:50 PM PDT by School of Rational Thought

Father died a few hours ago.

Veteran of Saipan.

It has not quite hit me yet. I was care giver 24/7 for both my parents for seven years. My mother went two years ago.

Just drinking.

Sorry.

Had 10 years of caring for sick elderly family members.

Still have my father. He will be 90 soon. WWII Vet. Pretty sharp for his age.

God bless you. Your Dad is where he wants to be - with your Mom in Heaven.

Lost my Dad three years ago on Christmas Eve, my Mom seven months later. Dad was career Army and a veteran of New Guinea, Morotai, and Mindanao; coming up from the South with MacArthur, while your Dad went West with Nimitz to put the pincers on the enemy.

I was a long term primary family caregiver, too. Wrenching, exhausting responsibility. Get together with a close friend or two and lean on them. You need it.

Very sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. It will be 20 years this year since I lost mine (a WWII vet) and I still miss him every single day. So I know how it feels.

I’m sorry for your loss.

My Dad was also at Saipan. Quartermaster on a Navy troop transport that brought the Marines in.

Your Dad will always be with you in your memories.

My prayers are for you and your family. I lost my baby sister just a few weeks ago and I am still adjusting. Carolyn was 56, the same age that our mother was when had passed away from cancer.

When you miss your father, look into the eyes of his children and grandchildren , you will see him there.

If you ask Him, God will help you through this sad and emotional time.

You did the right thing in caring for your parents. Let that be some consolation. Sincere condolences are extended. I have the greatest respect for our WWII vets.

Cherish the fond memories of your father and keep in mind the resurrection hope expressed at John 5:28,29 and Revelation 21:4. Then, imagine the joy of meeting him again.

My sincere condolences on your loss.

I’m very sorry for your loss. You’re not alone; I think most people are in a daze when they lose someone so close, especially after having been a caregiver and being with your parent day in and day out. Blessings on you and your family.

I knew a neighbor across the street who served there during WWII as a engineer on fuels and gasolines.
He received a metal from Chinese nationalist primere Chaing Kai shek , he even showed me a picture of Chasing Kai When putting the metal on his uniform.

Imagine how this world would have been a little better if the communist would not have taken over China and Chasing Kai shek would have prevailed.

And one is never to old to need their parents.

No matter how old you get, they are still your parents.
