Marco Rubio in Spanish: Obama’s First Executive Amnesty ‘Important,’ People ‘Benefiting from It’

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), a 2016 GOP presidential candidate, said he believes that President Barack Obama’s first executive amnesty for so-called DREAMers—the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)—is “important” and he won’t reverse it himself if elected president. He delivered these remarks in a Spanish-language interview he gave to Univision’s Jorge Ramos.

“I believe DACA is important. It can’t be terminated from one moment to the next, because there are already people benefiting from it,” Rubio said in Spanish on Ramos’s television program, according to an English translation provided by the media service Grabien. “But yes, it is going to have to end. It can’t be the permanent policy of the United States, and I don’t think that’s what they’re asking either. I think everyone prefers immigration reform.”

Ramos followed up, according to the translation, by asking: “But then, to clarify, you would put an end to DACA once immigration reform is approved, but what would happen, Senator, if there is no immigration reform; would you cancel DACA anyway?”

Rubio answered that DACA will end only when a legislative substitute with the exact same or similar policy prescriptions—a legislative amnesty for illegal alien minors—is implemented. He also said in Spanish that, if elected president, he believes that America cannot deport illegal aliens here in the country right now, and he expects a legislative solution will be implemented that essentially has all the parts of the massively controversial “Gang of Eight” bill that he would pass piece-by-piece.

I am not a Rubio supporter, but, to be fair, pro-deportation candidates win between 2% and 3% of the votes.

If you see deportation of illegals in our future, you have better glasses than I do.

Looks like Rubio caught Rand and Jeb’s mouth-drop disease. Every time they open their mouths their electability drops.

I knew Rubio really didn't change his stripes. He pretends he's "changed his mind" and not for amnesty now, just to get elected, then it's illegals all the way. I say NO. WAY.

NO RUBIO

FWIW, every candidate wants LOTS more immigration, including the so-called conservative, Ted Cruz. I don’t know what the answer is in the current system since they re all beholden to special interests that only care about ethnic cleansing all of us away.

Rubio, Grahamnesty, Perry, etc. are being paid to run by The Cheap Labor Express to split up the votes of conservatives to make sure we do not nominate Ted Cruz.

The RNC has already been paid to produce an amnesty candidate. The cheap labor importers do not want us to elect anyone who will stop the invasion/cheap labor importation.

Rubio is a duplicitous liar. He lied to get elected, he lied about what was in his Gang’s bill, he will turn against the citizens if elected. He cannot be trusted at all. Anyone who still considers him is a fool.

I was shocked to find that Cruz wasn’t for deporting those already here. But I guess he is being pragmatic. They can stay but NO citizenship. That is a GENEROUS gift to get to live in the greatest country on earth. He could make the case that their children will be citizens and hopefully 20 years from now they will be republicans voters as I think the illegal immigration issue is what keeps a lot of Hispanics from voting republican. Here on staten island they are very hard workers, church going, and family oriented. But boy do they drink and fight lol. I learned all this when I drove a cab :) they are great tippers too

The problem here is how do you round up 11 million people and deport them?

This is a mess that was really initiated during Jorge el Segundo’s reign. Obama expanded on it exponentially.

It would be worth accepting those already here if we could just stop any future violation of our borders.

But little will be done as long as Republicans continue to re-elect John McCain, the Bushes, McConnell, Boehner, etc.

Here too. And the angel who lives two doors down is an illegal and she’s been there for me during my debilitating chemo treatments, cooking for me, giving me dinner. cleaning my home for me. I couldn’t even walk and my son/dil did nothing for me. But she did. An angel walking among us, let me tell you.
And yet I’m implacably against illegals getting citizenship, staying. I can’t really make the two fit together, but looking at the big picture, not just one instance, I’d still say NO to illegals. cringing. And I’d help my wonderful friend in any way I could.

But that's the trap. Such statements are self contradictory. Accepting those who've gotten here illegally is what drew them here in the first place. They saw the Simpson-Mazzoli amnesty of '86 and figured if they could get here and hang around long enough they, too, could get amnestied. By giving them just that now, what have you said to the 600 million or so who are as yet still south of the border? "Get here soon so you can be in the next amnesty." You just make the problem worse by accepting the presence of illegals and showering them with benefits.

I think it’s funny (but not all surprising) that Rubio will only say this on Spanish TV.

He’s been a known empty suit for many years, by those who choose to pay attention.

How does popping a kid out after illegally crossing a border make that kid a citizen? Is that the way it works in other countries?

According to Chief Justice Fuller's dissenting opinion in US v. Wong Kim Ark they are not (you'll need to scroll down to the dissent). It's well worth the time to read.

Bye bye Rubio, this is the end of your campaign before it really gets off the ground!

I said this long before he announced he was running for POTUS, he was a member of the gang of eight, that was enough for me to end any support I would have given him in any election!
