Liberal Nanny Staters want to kill kids in the womb whenever possible.

But for those babies who manage to get by the abortionist’s knife the liberals want to dictate to the parents every aspect of the child’s life and upbringing.

Much of the time it seems like their true interest is not so much compassion for the welfare of babies and children as it is to gain control of other people’s lives - To tell them how the can and cannot live.

I think you have it right. It's all about control.

I hope homeschoolers are members of HSLDA. That was my security blanket through those years.

Yes, many homeschoolers still are members of HSLDA.

Have they pushed for targeting of illegal immigrants as well?

Illinois leaves you alone and that’s as it should be.

Background check at Sears. Lowes. etc. before you can buy a “youth” sized or above freezer?

The grandfather asked no questions for the two years those children were missing? I find that terribly strange!
And as someone else mentioned, I would like to see if social services had prior contact with this woman and her children.

Although I oppose any kind of requirement, I do want to point out that this bill goes way past paperwork.

Here's the crux of it:

There would also be two visits to the home every year from either a doctor, teacher or social worker.

So, this bill would require that someone actually come into your house to investigate your family twice a year. IOW, just for homeschooling, you're automatically considered suspicious, and now someone from the state will have to come into your home to "check."

Yep. Just as you guessed: While the children were enrolled in school (up to two years ago), CPS was called to investigate. CPS visited twice:

I think that, since children get hurt and die and get abused at schools; all schools should have to register with a local home.

Of course, there is no accounting for the damage that public schools do to individual children nor for the massive economic damage they do to the nation by graduating children who are, on average, at least one full grade level in competence compared to where they could be.

It is the government schools that should be forced to justify their existence, not private homeschooling.

How many children in the government school system have died as a result of abuse? None? Thought not.

We have always homeschooled our kids (they’re eight now). We’re required to register our private school with the state, otherwise we’ve been left alone. This requirement to let a doctor or officer into the home twice a year is bogus. That’s imposing a higher standard than the kids who go to regular schools have to live with. However, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask the parents & kids to show up once a year at a school in the district to do the enrollment there (though that would be more work for the brick & mortar school). That would be the same standard, not a higher standard.

Can’t they simply make it against the law to put your kids in a freezer?

I’ll comply with my local laws. I was homeschooled under PA’s strict regulations, homeschooling my daughter under slightly more lenient rules. But I will not let social workers in and I will not bring her down to the local school for permission. She is my daughter not the state’s. And our schools are cesspools. I don’t want any of that crap getting on her.
