ESPN suspended reporter Britt McHenry for one week, hours after a video surfaced of the reporter dressing down a parking lot attendant in brutally ugly fashion.
“I’m in the news, sweetheart, I will f—–g sue this place,” McHenry, a Washington-based reporter, says as the video opens.
McHenry vented about getting her car towed in a since-deleted tweet (as caught and saved by ARL Now) on April 6, and that was the cause of her frustration.
(snip) The video, which appeared on LiveLeak, shows McHenry relentlessly mocking the clerk in a nasty attack, bouncing from jabs at her intelligence to insults about her teeth.
“Yep, that’s all you care about, is just taking people’s money,” McHenry says. “With no education, no skillset, just wanted to clarify that. … Do you feel good about your job? So I could be a college dropout and do the same thing? Why, cause I have a brain and you don’t?”
The rant somehow gets more personal as the edited video closes.
“Maybe if I was missing some teeth they would hire me, huh?” McHenry says. ” ‘Cause they look so stunning … ‘Cause I’m on television and you’re in a f—–g trailer, honey.”
And a parting shot before McHenry leaves: “Lose some weight, baby girl.”

I saw this ‘rant’ earlier today.
I don’t think that anyone ‘goes off’ like that, from Anger as a first cause.
The anger comes from ANOTHER cause. On some level, she felt insecure and inadequate to deal with whatever happened.
This indicates to me a ‘gap’ in her training, as a young child.
The only way she knew how to deal with it, was to lash out, in the way that we see on the video. (I don’t care if the towing company did something ‘wrong’, or not. Kids who are raised right know that you don’t just lash out like that. You pause, think, consider.)
I feel very sad for this young woman; because she wasn’t trained to deal with difficulty when she should have been, in very young life; and now she has to learn some difficult lessons way past the time when she SHOULD have learned them.
If she had learned these hard lessons back when she was a kid, her failures wouldn’t have made much difference.
But now, she’s in a pickle.
This is sad, all around.

I may be a minority here. But I really don’t like how they have girl reporters on sports nowadays. Maybe I’m in a big minority. I enjoy girls as much as any man. But I feel like there’s a time and a place for everything, and football games and sports programs and girls together just don’t do it for me.
The suspension is just to give ESPN some time to clear her firing with the Legal Department.
