Washington (CNN)Ben Carson will make a major announcement on May 4 in Detroit, his campaign tells CNN, setting the date and location for what's expected to be the launch of his presidential bid.

The announcement will take place at the Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, and will be ticketed, but the rest of the details — the exact time, and how many tickets Carson will distribute to supporters — have yet to be hammered out, a spokeswoman said.

Not all that long ago, the vast majority of Americans believed that people who had never even run for ANY political office, shouldn't try for the highest position of the land. They were correct !

Carson has exactly NOTHING whatsoever to commend him for that office!

He is a lousy speaker, has exactly ZERO political knowledge, no contacts, and frankly, is a joke with a gigantic ego.

He is a gaffe machine, keeps making puerile mistakes, and is just muddying the waters. If he truly cared about this nation, he wouldn't throw his hat into the ring.

This might be great if he takes the press on a bus tour to look at the ruins of what the democrats did to that city.

The thing I like most about Mr. Carson is has so much common sense and he tells it like it is. I am not sure he could get elected after the current person in Washington.

Guess that means he's not running for the open Maryland Senate seat -- he's do that in Baltimore, not Detroit.

And yes, he's brilliant, talented and accomplished and has exactly the same chance of winning the White House in 2016 as any random name pulled out of the phone book.

If there are half a dozen conservatives going into the primaries, Bush will be the Republican nominee and the Democrat will be the next President. It may not even be Mrs. Bill. She thought she was the anointed one last time.

Is his announcement going to be in one of his proposed 2nd amendment zones? I know it’s an urban area...so according to Carson...the Constitution may not apply there.

Hummm-mmm Detroit? Looks like he’s going to wrap up the Black and Muslim community there...and then throw them behind whatever candidate is out in front as the election narrows.

All these candidates are on the same page..and that is to make certain Hillary Clinton is not President and put in the best man we have. They may oppose one another but the overall agenda...they are on the same page.

If you look at where these candidates are “announcing” and the population...as well as their timing and what they are saying...it’s really quite a remarkable endeavor they are managing very well.

Kentucky senator Paul announced in Kentucky.

Florida senator Rubio announced in Florida.

Southern Baptist Cruz announced at a Christian university.

Detroit born Ben Carson will make an announcement in Detroit.

The Muslims and blacks are going to follow Ben Carson?

Why?

I really wish he would stay out of it. He has nothing to bring to this cycle.

Many doctors get a superiority complex because of their power over life and death and the admiration of those who believe doctors are gods. When they start believing their own kudos, they think they can do anything. Dr Carson is a good man, an honest man and a brilliant surgeon - he is not presidential material.

[He may be just getting his name out there more and what better way to do that then running for President.]

It seems as though they all have a book they want to peddle.

There are people out there who are being used and don’t know it and others in this forum who represent the GOPe and want to use us.

Ben, why bother.

You know how it is. He's retired...got a lot of time on his hands...needs something to get him out of the house and out from under the wife's feet...so why not?

These types of people are encouraged to run via the GOPe through third party people. The more of them running the more dilluted the conservative base votes ensuring a win for the idiot Bush.

The GOPe is so afraid of Cruz they are getting a ton of sure losers to get into the Primary. They will not allow Cruz to win. They want their power and money and will maintain it at the expense of our Country.
