Why Is Hillary Clinton Even Running? ... VDH

That is not as stupid a question as it first sounds. Ostensibly we know her four ready answers.

I. Who Else?

One, there is no other credible Democrat who could run for presidency. The senior party leadership — Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore, John Kerry, and Dianne Feinstein — is shrill and buffoonish. They all have either tried before and failed, or are ossified has-beens — or both. There are no up-and-coming governors with distinguished records of executive success. There are no young charismatic Democratic senators — other than the well-preserved, 65-year-old Harvard populist Elizabeth Warren — out to make a name, who can speak well and mirror image a Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, or Mario Rubio. Congressional-district gerrymandering that encourages ethnic chauvinism and hard-left polarization has almost ensured that there will not be another minority star, like Barack Obama, who can win crossover votes and statewide office as a springboard to the White House

The point is that Mrs. Clinton has neither a past record that she is proud to run on nor support for an Obama administration tenure that she will promise to continue. She is not a good speaker and has a disturbing habit of switching accents in amateurish attempts to mimic regional or racial authenticity. She accentuates her points by screaming in shrill outbursts, and dismisses serious questions by chortling for far too long. She is deaf to human cordiality, has a bad temper, and treats subordinates with haughty disdain. In that sense she is more authentic than her equally callous and narcissistic, but charismatic husband.

The polls are in and the majority of people don't trust her.

There is no way she can build any sort of momentum to overcome the fact that people already know her and do not trust her.

Besides, no matter how much she smiles and yucks it up the things that stick in people's minds are the facts that she treats subordinates badly (which is the main indicator people can see as to how she treats ordinary citizens) and she has blood on her hands as far as Benghazi is concerned.

Nothing she can do will change those two mental images.

At the risk of paranoia...

“The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites...We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means, it is an end... The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now do you begin to understand me?”

I just don’t believe she can win. She’s an honorary nominee, like Kerry or Bob Dole. If she does win, I will give up and finalize my preparations.

Why Is Hillary Clinton Even Running?

Follow the money. She knows she has only a snow ball's chance in hell to win, but she can pocket millions in donations and speaking fees.

I know nobody is taking Martin O’Malley seriously, and I know nothing about him other than he is a liberal, but from just seeing a few clips of him, he seems to be a normal, charismatic guy who knows how to talk like an real person. In other words, everything Hillary lacks. He may be an unknown now, but if he is the only “not Hillary” option for Democrats, I could see a lot of them changing over. Especially if he keeps up with the “no dynasties” attack on Hillary and Jeb.

I think you’ve hit it. I’d add that her recent indictable evidence destruction means she has a tiger by the tail. Let it go and she gets eaten.

Yah. That's what I figure too. She'll run all she can, but at the end of the day, hey, she has the right genitalia!! Isn't it a woman's "turn?"

Merit be damned!

Read up on this just a little bit, and it seems leftover campaign funds can be given to the candidate’s choice of charity. Would such a charity include the Clinton’s billion-dollar “foundation?” And could Hillary then use money from that foundation for “personal expenses?” Looks to me like a mighty neat way to launder the leftovers.

You have seen what has been allowed to run the formerly great United States of America. Start finalizing.

Who else? It’s a curious thing. Seven years into the Obama administration, there’s a very short limited list of successful Senators and Governors from the Democratic party. Most are past their prime and not likely to get on anyone’s short list for President.

Warren? Governor O’Malley from Maryland? A old washed up VP, Joe Biden? Former Virginia Senator Jim Webb? And former secretary of state Hillary Clinton?

Warren is 65 years old and with decent health...she can run now or in 2020...but that’s it. O’Malley wrapped up his governorship and has nothing else on the calendar except perhaps a run for Senator....so it’s now or never. Joe Biden? Way too old now. Jim Webb is virtually unknown beyond Virginia. Hillary? She was beaten in Iowa by a virtual unknown, and hasn’t gotten the character of Bill Clinton to win nationally.

For the national level....the Democratic Party is the weakest it’s been in fifty years. Even Harry Reid’s seat in Nevada will probably flip to a Republican.

Yep, gotta agree with that one. I’d really be having some good schadenfreude seeing her do some jail time.

Yep, this is what gave us Anthony Weiner’s last (hopefully final) campaign. He had excess funds to spend. Hillary is probably setting a trend on what to do with excess cash. This is why her goal is to raise $2.5 billion.

On the good side even the rising stars of liberalism are in their 60’s. Hopefully it will die in its sleep.

She’s got more money than she’s use for already and she hates having to lower herself to campaigning.

She’s in it to win it.

The question, as always, is just how much can the GOP screw up their own choice of candidate.

ANYBODY who enters on the Dem side and is not clinically insane (i.e., Bernie Sanders and Al Sharpton) will automatically get 40% of the Democrat vote.

We need a Dem race to keep them out of ours.
