An Oklahoma man's last few moments alive after he was accidentally shot last week by a deputy who meant to stun him with a Taser is seen in disturbing video released by police Friday.

"He shot me! He shot me, man. Oh, my god. I'm losing my breath," Eric Harris says as he struggles on the ground with police on top of him.

"F--- your breath," an officer can be heard saying. "Shut the f--- up!"

Reserve Deputy Robert Bates, 73, shouted "Taser! Taser!" before pulling the trigger on his gun, firing one round into Harris.

"I shot him!" the shocked former policeman says, dropping his gun from the recoil. "I'm sorry."

In the video, provided to the New York Daily News, a body-cam captures an officer in a foot pursuit of Harris who is subsequently tackled in the street.

Another day, another police murder.

Seems like they'd realize running from police isn't the safest course of action.

Didnt read. Dangerous criminal or some boob selling cigs without a government permit? Doesn’t seem to matter much to the police these days. Kill the perp and let the courts sort it all out later.

NY Daily News is a liberal newspaper and believes that the only people who are responsible enough to have guns are the police.

Agree. Cops are ultimately responsible for pulling the trigger on fleeing or even resisting suspects unless they pose a deadly threat.

Driving away high speed or running from police causes an adrenaline dump. That leads to poor decisions. Saying these suspects bear no fault at all is a stretch. But for their running, they’d be alive today.

Could be a second job. Working on another pension perhaps.

If he shot the gun intending to use a taser, could be negligent homicide. The family will get a pay off settlement for sure though.

Why do they run? I was taught to stop and work through it and let the Lawyers handle it and deal with it.

Sad that he was shot accidentally, BUT, he should NOT have run from the police. When will people learn?

Just imagine ... if you wanted to execute somebody who has frequently caused trouble for them, You call in a 73 year old associate deputy to accidently shoot him with his gun rather than his taser.

I am not suggesting that that’s what happened. I’m just saying, if you want to concoct a conspiracy fable, that’s a good start.

Both the sheriff’s office and the local PD where I live require their officers to carry their tasers on the opposite side from their firearm as well as to carry them crossdraw to reduce their chance they pull their taser instead of their firearm.

I really don’t understand why all departments don’t do this.

I have one question what was a 73 year old doing as a reserve officer patrolling the streets and making arrests. being a police patrol officer is job for a younger man not a senior citizen.

“Sad that he was shot accidentally...”

There is no such thing as an “accidental” shooting. When guns go off it is either intentional or negligence.

My thought also, the guy should have been riding a desk, maybe, not out on patrol.

“Why do they run?”

Gee, I dunno—maybe he was afraid some superannuated law dog suffering from senile dementia might pull out his service pistol instead of a taser and shoot him to death?
