The GOP Primaries Have Entered the Family-Squabble Phase
National Review ^ | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 04/11/2015 5:45:39 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

....."THERE WILL BE BLOOD

We are entering the very early stages of the family-squabble phase of the Republican primaries. In metaphorical popular-culture terms, it’s a heady mix of the Thanksgiving food-fight from Cheers, Festivus from Seinfeld, the Red Wedding from Game of Thrones, and the battle scene from Anchorman.

I’ve witnessed such bloodlettings four times from my perch at National Review (2000, 2008, 2012, and now 2016). I don’t want to exaggerate National Review’s stature on the right, or traffic in stale political clichés from cable-TV shouting matches, but I feel a bit like a member of the College of Cardinals during a succession crisis over the mantle of Holy Roman Emperor during the Ottonian dynasty.

Already, I’m hearing from people who insist that criticism of, or even a lack of enthusiasm for, Ted Cruz or Rand Paul or Ben Carson is some kind of heresy driven by impure or devious motives. Opposition to Cruz means you hate the Constitution. Skepticism about Paul is a sign you want eternal war. And reluctance about Carson is wrong because YOU JUST DON’T GET IT!

If this is your first rodeo and you’re shocked by the nastiness of the conversation, all I can tell you is what I would tell the guy who complained when his prison cellmate “Tiny” insisted on braiding his hair: “This is the nice part; it’s going to get much, much, worse.”......

But not here on FR!

I choose to ignore the game. My venom is reserved for Jebby and Christie.

“I remember the days when our criticism of Newt Gingrich (or allegedly insufficient enthusiasm for, variously, Gary Bauer, Fred Thompson, Rick Perry, or Michelle Bachmann and many others) caused many friends on the right to say really dumb things about National Review”

Says it all.

National Review attacked EVERY conservative
for their liberal frauds. Expect SSDD.

We need to be able to take some ribbing.

It’s a long stretch to Nov 2016.

That “ribbing” you feel from the faux-”conservatives”
is the tip of their KNIVES for their liberal Masters.

ahaha all those “folks” who broke ranks...and brought us The Clintons

Id hope that the Perot fiasco might serve as a reminder to possible “third party” advocates..of just what can happen when dissension derails an election

The picture is of two perverts, right? Nevertheless, there are two types of democrats, the thieves and their arrogant though deceived allies; they are greedy and materialistic and corrupt to their core.
They love the left, who have murdered worldwide and destroyed everything they touch.

But not here on FR!

That's hilarious.

Based on past election cycles, we can expect vicious name calling, troll accusations, and banning of those not supporting the chosen one.

I do believe Jonah Goldberg has moved into the top echelon of political columnist.

So he's finally mastered the art of using a whole lot of words to say nothing of actual value?

Their are two types of GOP people, liberals who pretend to be right wing and right minded conservatives, the liberal rinos are always siding with the left in their deeds and words while true conservatives, those who realize that the Constitution and Bill of Rights are the only documents of good and right government in the world, do that which is good and right for all. Big government is always evil and murders their own and others and are communists. Would to God the conservatives would separate from the rinos and just vote for conservatives regardless of the consequences instead of being used by the leftist monsters.

If the GOP has ANY HOPE of winning the 2016 election, they need to group together and concentrate their efforts on defeating Hitlary. there is no doubt in my mind that the demodummies will concentrate heavily on ANY GOP candidate that comes forward and their choice. If all guns are concentrated on Hitlary BEFORE the election date, her history and past scandals should send her packing and NOT for the WH. We don’t need more of the same crap that we have been getting these past years from the demodummies and in particular odumbo and his ilk. IMO, the ONLY thing Hitlary has going for her is she was born American, nothing else.

Jeb has not entered the game so that he can sit back and watch the conservatives destroy one another.

I’d prefer they all got together, agreed to a candidate and came out unified. That would blow everyone’s mind.

That’s certainly what I remember.

Was involved in some rather lengthy discussion with the birthers here, and some of them absolutely refused somebody could quite honestly differ on what the Constitution meant by “natural born citizen.”

The only explanation possible was secretly working for the other side. What I want to know is why I still haven’t gotten my check?
