JEB BUSH: I WOULD GOVERN LIKE LYNDON JOHNSON AS PRESIDENT
Breitbart ^ | 15 Feb 2013 | Tony Lee

Posted on 04/08/2015 10:09:49 AM PDT by Lazamataz

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said he would strive to be like Lyndon Johnson, the Democrat famous for expanding the U.S. welfare state through the “Great Society,” if he were elected president. According to the Miami Herald, Bush made those comments Wednesday night in San Antonio, Florida at Saint Leo University, while speaking about education, immigration, and energy policy.

Bush did not address Johnson’s Great Society and War on Poverty programs, about which Ronald Reagan once famously quipped, “We had a war on poverty, and poverty won.”

Instead, he was referencing Johnson’s mastery of the so-called sausage-making process in Congress.

He vowed to approach the presidency as “master of the Senate,” as biographer Robert Caro described Johnson.

Does this mean that he will make a fortune on businesses that are highly regulated by federal government in office, like broadcasting and banking, and then explain that it’s because his wife is such a good businessperson?

Jeb Bush said he would strive to be like Lyndon Johnson

Why am I not surprised that he would speak like an elitist who wants to control the masses by making them believe that they need the government to protect them, so they accept being controlled.

Yes, that's what REPUBLICANS need in their nominee.

OTOH, many Republicans at the time supported Johnson over their own nominee.

Well, I sometimes say that I will sit out an election, but I always hold my nose and swing on the elephant’s tail anyway.

Not if this is so and Jeb is the candidate. I can’t say that LBJ was a worse president than Carter or Obama. don’t even see how that is possible.

But he did long-term structural damage to the USA, and no one who holds him up as a model will receive my vote.

Another reason to vote against Bush in the primary. I am sick of that family and want to part of them. If it hadn’t been for W., Obama would never have been elected. Of all the Republicans running, Bush is my last choice. Even Mitt Romney would be a better nominee and I didn’t vote for him in the primary.

At this point, in the Republican party, it is no longer a struggle between Progressives and Conservatives.

At this point it is a struggle between Progressives and SANE PEOPLE.

Good then he and his GOP establishment crony capitalist friends can just pay the taxes that they and his liberal gentry friends deserve to pay because of their support of big government.
