No one fired at Rolling Stone. Really?
cnn ^ | Brian Stelter

The reporter, Sabrina Rubin Erdely, and the magazine's top editor, Will Dana, say they are taking responsibility for the failures.

"These are mistakes I will not make again," Erdely said in a statement.

But Erdely will continue writing for Rolling Stone. Dana is standing by her, telling The Washington Post that "Sabrina's done great work for us over the years and we expect that to continue."

And Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner is standing by both of them.

Wenner did not respond to CNN's requests for comment about his decision. But according to people with direct knowledge of his thinking, he concluded that the publication of Columbia's report was essentially punishment enough.

The report certainly is embarrassing. That's why some journalists outside Rolling Stone are perplexed by the publisher's position.

"What would Rolling Stone in its heyday write about an institution that screwed up unbelievably, damaged people's lives, but punished no one?" Politico's John Bresnahan asked on Twitter Sunday night.

“... he concluded that the publication of Columbia’s report was essentially punishment enough.”

This is an attitude that could save us a great deal of the money we spend maintaining prisons. If we simply assume that a trial is punishment enough, we could cut our costs by millions!

Pathetic. Need to see a lawsuit against them rolled out soon.

Leftists rarely if ever are disciplined for wrong doing because their motive is “virtuous and righteous”.

They can’t very well fire their best fiction writer just before the Republican Presidential season kicks off.

"What would Rolling Stone in its heyday write about an institution that screwed up unbelievably, damaged people's lives, but punished no one?" Politico's John Bresnahan asked on Twitter Sunday night.

That they're a phony-baloney, plastic BS organization that represents the dominant White Power Structure, and therefore protects its own from The People's Outrage. For this and many other great reasons, this Institution is a menace to society, and should be subjected to a much higher degree of government scrutiny, investigation, regulation, and taxation.

This would be "Speaking Truth To Power," and is a one-way street with the MSM, which demands a strict, no-penumbra interpretation of that part of the Constitution which protects its interest.

The rest of us are not so lucky. We are protected by a "living document."

Kind of like when a parent says before spanking their kid, "This is going to hurt me a lot more than it hurts you.".........Yeah, right!

Shite looks more elegant when spelled with a ‘y’, as in ‘shyte’.

So more discriminating people have told me . . .

Have a good week!

The rationalization was that sure, it was abusive and unprofessional, but it wasn’t part of a pattern by the author. The conclusion to that is that every journalist gets one character assassination for free and only then is it considered a bad thing. Nice to know.

She advanced the narrative. That ensures her continued employment. If she had written an article saying there was no such thing as “rape culture”, she’d have been vilified and fired.

It’s all about the narrative. Support it, get support. Talk against it, suffer.

“Rolling stones don’t gather moss, they instead pick up “shite”....”

So - why was the stone rolling?

Remember MadMo commanded Muslims to wipe after defecation by wiping with 3, 5, or 7 smooth round stones, but never 2, 4, or 6!

Naturally, a used stone is tossed away.

And now you know why the stone was rolling.

And you also where the magazine name is derived.

I think there is a simple reason. Under US libel laws, the media cannot be sued unless they deliberately publish a falsehood. Rolling Stone, as I understand it, is saying they are taking no action because nothing was done on purpose.

Well, if it was done on purpose, goodbye Rolling Stone. This is just part of their defense to the law suit they expect is on the way.
