Ping.
Yeah, the roadways and a lot of colons ...
“Actually, only the big population centers (Portland, Salem) are predominantly liberal. The rest of the state is pretty much a red state.”
As it is in many “blue” states. Even NY
Maybe the incoming are poor, work a few years, save and can afford a mover on the way out.
And getting more liberal as Kaliforniacs spread their destructive values to neighboring states.
Why are people leaving NM and UT?
Yet.
As the leftward tilt of the state continues, it's just a matter of time.
It’s an assisted-suicide state.
Old report that shows only half or less of the story. You cannot deduce complete migration patterns from the records of one moving company. Not everyone uses a mover or United Van Lines to move. Wealthy and people whose employers are paying for thier moves use moving companies. Less wealthy people move themselves using Uhaul or Budget Rent A Truck.
Stop fawning over this bad data.
You can tell it is bad data by the claim of North Dakota being an out migration state. That flies in the face of all other demographic data.
Bull. NO sales tax, though.

Depends on whether the data were collected before or after the oil collapse.
Oil well drillers don’t use moving companies to move.
An argument could be made that for every rural dweller; their vote should be counted 50 times for every city dweller or whatever the ratio from city to rural is for that state.
Or possibly the representative vote from the rural area should count X times more than the city area rep so all areas are represented equally by land mass and not by population.
Or laws passed by city people only apply to that city and not the state it is located in.
None of this will ever happen but it would be a great way of leveling the playing field.
exactly....Californians....
and they don't let you fill your own gas tank....
