The former deputy chief of staff for the George W. Bush administration caused some controversy during an appearance at UConn on Tuesday.

Karl Rove attended the university to discuss the upcoming 2016 elections as part of an event held by the UConn College Republicans and Young America’s Foundation. He spoke for about a half-hour, and then was asked a variety of political questions.

However, the question that most stood out came from an Iraq War veteran who requested that Rove apologize for the lives lost as a result of the war America started. Here is the full question from Private Ryan Henowitz:

on your premise wwe should have ignored the 6 millions Jews who were slaughtered by hitler- swell- hooray for us the hell with everyone else-

We are, or were anyways, the most powerful nation on earth and YES we DID have an obligation to help the helpless around the world- and we have- sometimes with war, sometimes via other means- but apparently you would have us help no one because ‘it aint affectin us’ I guess?

Saddam was convicted of genocide against the Kurds, he killed at a minimum, 20,000 of them and probably a lot more.

The war in Afghanistan should have been over by the time Bush started the Iraq war. And that should have ended by 2004 at the latest, with 1000 daisycutters leveling the entirety of Tikrit, Mosul, Baghdad, and Fallujah and every man woman and child in it. Instead G (Weakling) Bush let his PC pansy assed advisors and Pentagon brass (by this point fully infiltrated and infected with clintoner dykes and freaks) send hundreds of thousands of our best into hell, with thousands never returning alive.

Killing millions of Iraqis is the answer?

Well said. Karl Rove is nothing but a chicken hawk along with his butt buddy John Bolton they never served but are quick to use us as canon fodder and try to explain that they done a wonderful thing.

Bush did totally and deliberately mis-characterize islam as a peaceful religion. Obama’s done far worse mischaracterizing it and also promoting it. But Bush was totally wrong and I believe, knowingly was lying when he said it. It’s impossible to believe it’s peaceful when you understand the koran and abrogation and al-taqiyaa. Impossible.

Him lying about it being peaceful is just like listening to Obama everyday, lying about Everything, to our faces. Demanding we believe it and getting huffy when we don’t.

Killing millions of Iraqis is the answer?

Perhaps I was being a little too enthusiastic there, but I would rather have 100000 Iraqis "go" than one US soldier. If you go to war, you go to war. I am not sure I would have "done" Iraq to begin with. But, in retrospect, it might have taught the Islamic world a lesson in submission.

I hear you but I think Bolton would be 10000 times better than hitlery or Kerry.

I knew Bolton was a bush guy, but I didn't ever see him as being in the same "bush league" as rove. Then again I need to look into Bolton more closely--I admit I don't know enough about him...

Has Obama apologized for the hundreds of Christians beheaded since he pulled out of Iraq with no plan to contain the inevitable rise of ISIS?

is there proof this guy is a military veteran?

I’m no fan of Rove but good for him not apologizing. Wish Gov Pence didn’t when the lefties had a fit over RFA.

Never apologize to leftists.

WE destabilized the Middle East? The mid-east has been roiling for over 1,700 years. To say that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 is to ignore the politics of the region. The first country the US bombed after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor was North Africa.Whatever did North Africa have to do with Pearl Harbor? I think you’re skipping a whole bunch of dots in your analysis. And, the veteran was wrong to ask Karl for an apology.

Private Ryan Henowitz needs to redirect his anger and his questions to Judith Miller who has admitted that she “took America to war in Iraq”.

Needs no other islamist facilitator to remind us that the Iraq War was ridiculously handled and its veterans abandoned.

That’s a good recitation of left-wing talking points, but they are no more credible now than they were the first million times they were used. Iraq was quite stable and would still be stable but for the ridiculous decisions of the Obama administration to just totally abandon it, then sit around and do nothing while ISIS invaded and allow them to become entrenched and do nothing to help to allow others to move in and fill the vacuum as the message is being sent the U.S. cannot be trusted.
