Its a scary thought, but here it is: If some red states were to openly defy the authority of President Obama in the exercise of his constitutional duties, would todays Republican Congress side with him? Or would they honor the insurrection?
Last month, the Republican-led Arizona House of Representatives passed, on a 36-to-24 party-line vote, a bill sponsored by tea party Rep. Bob Thorpe (R-Flagstaff) that prohibits this state or any of its political subdivisions from using any personnel or financial resources to enforce, administer or cooperate with an executive order issued by the President of the U.S. that has not been affirmed by a vote of Congress and signed into law as prescribed by the U.S. Constitution. ...

You mean his anti-constitutional duties.
King is a liberal ahole. Since when has Obama and Holder upheld the Constitution of the United States? IRS scandal; Benghazi crimes; 2nd Amendment Rights; private land rights; water rights; 1st Amendment Rights; Banking industry strong-arm tactics; Eminent Domain, etc?
All of a sudden, the Wash Post thinks a “party-line vote” is a bad thing.
Some one will have to draw the line in the sand. Some day it will be enough. I think it needs to start with black americans who feel they have been used, and taken unfairly advantage of their plight.
I mean standing up to the criminal in chief ...
Well done Arizona. Such admittedly drastic measures should be taken only with the greatest of care and as a last resort. But it is not without precedent. During Prohibition a number of states made it quite clear that they would in no way cooperate in the enforcement of the idiotic Volstead Act.
the state of vermont had an arrest warrant issued for president bush, so the marxists can’t claim there is no precedent.
When Leftist talk about the constitution, they’re applying Alinsky Rule #4: make the enemy obey their own rules. The great thing for them is they get to define what’s constitutional through years of controlling the courts, the law schools, and a pretty much every institution and source of information.
Once they’ve killed all of us or completely marginalized us, they won’t bother talking about it anymore.
It’s almost over, everyone is already starting to talk about 2016. The long national nightmare that was the Obama presidency is nearly through. The lame duck will accomplish nothing more domestically, it’s over.
Let him kiss the asses of his Islamic masters until the damage he has done can be undone by Cruz.
lol. Both parties are 100% behind it. There is no movement against it.
Colbert King is an opinion writer and his opinions suck.
He is subhuman anti-American pig excrement and vermin that hates this country and it’s citizens and craves, with every atom of his utterly evil “soul”, to destroy us and the Constitution.
where?
Remind WAPO how Obamacare was passed!
Without a single republican vote in congress!
And just who is it, Mr. King, that is a zealot and "out of control"?
And why is it you object to a Congress that is merely performing its assigned Constitutional function? Why must the Congress toady to a lawless, renegade president?
Then, as now, there was a president, Abraham Lincoln, accused by those who detested him of misusing presidential power, subverting the Constitution and trampling over states rights. Then, as now, that president was characterized as a ruthless tyrant bent upon destroying a superior civilization.
Please, Mr. King, don't equate this president with Abrqham Lincoln.
Then, as now, that president was portrayed as a simpleton, a buffoon and a coward.
No, Mr. King, those would be this president's supporters.
