UPDATE: IT’S A NATIONAL AD BUY – Ted Cruz buys ads in Iowa to air during new NBC Bible Series

I love this guy’s strategy. He’s making a strong statement even with his ad purchases:

POLITICO – Ted Cruz is scheduled to become the first 2016 presidential candidate on the airwaves.

The Texas senator is purchasing a small amount of airtime on television affiliates in the early states of Iowa, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Nevada on Easter Sunday, according to ad tracking sources. At least some of the advertising will air during a showing of the NBC program “AD: The Bible Continues.”

As of Thursday afternoon, Cruz had booked a total of over $9,000 worth of airtime on affiliates throughout the four states — though the tally was increasing throughout the day as stations reported.

UPDATE: Turns out this isn’t just an early state ad buy, but also a Nationwide ad buy:

Today, the Cruz for President campaign unexpectedly announced a national television buy for Easter weekend. The campaign will run a 30-second spot called ‘Blessing’ that will appear in four early primary states: Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. The spot is also scheduled to air on the Fox News Channel during ‘Killing Jesus,’ a program based upon the best-selling book by television host Bill O’Reilly. The documentary will run on Good Friday and on Easter. The ad is scheduled to appear twice in each airing.

The spot is the first presidential ad buy of the 2016 election cycle, appearing much earlier than campaigns have historically run advertisements. It will run at a time when Cruz is the only announced candidate for president for 2016 and several polls show him “vault[ing] into the top tier of GOP contenders,” as one news outlet put it. Cruz made his announcement on March 23 speaking at Liberty University, the world’s largest Christian university.

Ted Cruz seems Newt Gingrich with his Contract with America smart about defining who he is and what he would like to do. I am not sure about this NBC program, however, I don't watch much TV. Is this program biblically accurate or blasphemous? Frankly, I think the Bible story, told as written, “unenhanced,” would be fascinating and compelling, even for unbelievers.

If I’m not mistaken, this Bible series is well done and Biblically accurate.

And if the RNC/GOPe had any balls, they would be running anti-Hitlery ads in Ohio and Florida right now too. But of course, they want Hitlery to win.

Ted Cruz just posted the ad on Facebook. So, I watched it.

This ad will cause the anti-Christian left to go BERSERK.

I wonder if Ted Cruz gets a non-prime off season election year discount on buying airtime ?
Do they charge more for airtime when the election season is in full swing ?
Like oil futures, buy the oil when it’s cheaper before the price goes up.
Can he buy airtime now and use it in 10 months at cheaper rates ?

Ted Cruz should put a ad on YouTube.

He didn't put it there. But, apparently, CBS News did.

Here is the ad!

Imagine that, CBS giving Ted Cruz free airtime.

Watch the Christopbies yell and scream about this TV ad being bigoted, hateful towards gays and have it removed.

Seems like Ted Cruz is our King David of our time facing Goliath.

Could you please describe the ad for me? The link doesn’t work in Canada. I guess it’s on a “need to know” and we don’t “need to know”.

Try this alternate YouTube link that the Cruz for President campaign sent out in an earlier email to supporters:

Blessing

I'm not a particularly religious person, but this ad touched my heart. Perhaps it's due to the Easter season, but more probably in my case the uplifting message and images are such a breath of fresh air in contrast to the culturally poisonous last 6+ years of the Obama administration.
