ECHO LAKE, Calif. – California Gov. Jerry Brown has ordered state officials to impose mandatory water restrictions for the first time in history as the state grapples with a serious drought.

In an executive order issued Wednesday, Brown ordered the state water board to implement reductions in cities and towns to cut usage by 25 percent.

I stand corrected. Still, they were the first CA Supreme Court Justices ever to not be confirmed.

It’s sugaring time in the Northeast now. Thousands of maple syrup makers with high capacity Reverse Osmosis systems will be dumping tens of millions of gallons of fresh water on the ground. I’m sure some of them would ship to CA, if the price was right.

Heh heh heh... to our extent, probably not. I’m not very knowledgeable about street life, or the life of the common man in Israel, taxation etc.

It’s not my intent or job to sell you anything.

The facts are out there. Desalinization is both doable and affordable. If a small nation can do it, a large nation can. Even states can. Israel only has about seven million people. We have close to 40 million in California now.

Water needs and desalinization are not specific to the Middle-East or Israel. California and I suspect other states prove that point right now.

If you need more water, you have a lot in common with Israel.

As for water rates being elevated prematurely, California is in dire need of more water. What choice does it have other than stick it’s head in the sand like leading Democrats in the state have for decades.

The market of price is taking care of it, that is what my post pointed out, when the Santa Barbara plant is descriptive, they built it when the felt it was needed, and mothballed it for 20 years when appropriate, and now bringing it back on line.

Why you keep acting like Israel is comparable to us in it’s situation and motivations and politics, etc in regards to why it built another plant, is baffling.

We get it, other countries, including Middle Eastern nations use desalination, so do we, and we are building more plants.
“Despite these hurdles, however, the United States ranks fourth among markets for desalinated water behind Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Spain”

There is one reason Israel is like us, and we are like it.

Can you figure out what it is? Evidently not.

They need more water.

So do we.

At then end of the day, this is all that matters on this subject.

Good grief.

Yeah, I get it, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and Spain all need water, Israel needs water, California needs water.

Everybody needs water, that is why Santa Barbara took their plant out of mothballs.

It was Governor Gray Davis who was recalled. Then the voters put in Arnold Putzinnegger instead of Tom McClintock. Many Freepers advocated for Arnold, much to my dismay.

There are going to be two classes of people. There will be the “exempt.” And there will be those who are going to harassed, intimidated, and punished.

Some landscapers will be busy for a while installing artificial grass. I agree though that a lot of gardeners will be out of work.

I wonder if you could get out of state water then sell it to people from a tanker truck? Some landscaping would be expensive to replace and people would pay.

Exactly!

Everyone knows poor illegals aren’t the problem.

It’s those middle-class a.h.s who were given privilege at birth.

They’ll go after them!

Is the last photo Westlake Village, Ventura County, by any chance?

No, that is a photo taken of The Lakes in Tempe, Arizona, one of many artificial lakes we love to fill with Colorado River water that would otherwise go to keeping California lawns green.

.

Whee!

No study needed. Your experience is universal. Low-flow shower head = longer shower = no water savings and wasted time.

Boats, grass - hurumph - - -

After having a home in New Mexico on half an acre or so, with a gelding in his corner corral; coming to CA in 1969, and experiencing postage stamp-sized yards, was shocking. But at least our street is nice and wide, unlike the more narrow ones that came about a few years later in newer communities.
And many (narrow) streets are lined with parked cars. After the 2 in each driveway. Cause there might be 3 or 4 drivers in the family. Orrrrr - 2 per adult - mucho scenarios - - -

Is there a more effed up state than California? Yeesh! For all of it’s natural resources and beauty, it just amazes me the self-inflicted (government-inflicted!) problems they have.

Used to live in San Diego. A beautiful, but expensive place to live - even back in the 80’s.

“Look! An ocean of water over to the east of you!”

Good Lord! Don’t tell them to look EAST! They’ll be draining Lake Michigan if you do that! ;)

Time to revisit our Great Lakes Compact and make damn sure none of those hosers in southern CA get a DROP of lake water from the Midwest!

I still don’t TRUST IL or NY being in this group with us. Either state has a HISTORY of prostituting themselves to the highest bidder/special interest group! (Gays, Food Nazis, Enviro-Weenies, et al!)

Reminds me of Dad teaching us girls how to take a ‘Navy Shower.’

Water on - get wet. Water off. Soap up. Water on. Rinse off. NOW GET THE HELL OUT OF MY BATHROOM AND QUIT WASTING MY WATER!

Yes, Captain, My Captain, LOL!
