Fox’s Perino, Gutfeld Pan ‘Unnecessary Culture War’ over Indiana: ‘Hurts the Right’

On Fox’s The Five today, both Dana Perino and Greg Gutfeld panned what Perino deemed an “unnecessary culture war” over Indiana’s religious freedom law.

Perino argued that the tide is turning on gay marriage not just across the country, but within the GOP, and this fight only helps to “nullify” the progress that’s being made in the party to get Republicans to be more open and accepting of gay rights.

The problem is we let the left define the narrative and then try to debate a loaded narrative.

The issue is tolerance for me, but not for thee.

The left demands tolerance of their beliefs but does not allow tolerance of conservative beliefs.
Tolerance of Islamic or other religious beliefs, but not tolerance of Christian beliefs.
It is not about tolerance, it's about domination.

It’s easy for me to understand. Like many libertarians, Gutfeld has no interest in religious freedom, because he is an atheist who secretly wishes religion would just go away.

Isn’t Gutfield Gay himself? Perino has always been repulican lite. Kinda like Miller Lite, less filling, tasteless and worthless.

The tide is changing because people on the other side fought a long battle to change it. We too need to fight a long war to change it back.

The defense of Liberty, from those with agendas, involves eternal vigilance--that is obvious. But the fight to restore popular acceptance of freedom of conscience & liberty to decide for yourself, with whom you will associate & do business, or to determine the specific limitations on your business, does not really need to be that long, before the balance shifts back in our favor.

What we need are more spokesmen who know how to cut to the underlying realities of human interaction. The foe are committed to cloud-borne wish lists. If instead of firing back slogans or ex cathedra pronouncements against the constant din in the media, that mis-defines the issues; if instead, we explain what is actually involved, patiently, persistently & with less rancor, people will begin to emerge from the virtual comas that have been induced by the endless iteration of demonstrably false arguments.

We need to do a better job of explaining just why liberty is important.

It hurts the Right because the Right falls for the scheme every time. Lucy will pull the football away every time, Charlie Brown. Pence had a few good moments of replying properly, but the hammering continued until he caved. Letting the Left frame the question and all the possible answers is a recipe for losing, every time. Either learn the game, or get off the field.

That ship has sailed. Traditional America has forfeited it's birthright because of(insert your reasons here). Negative attitude yes, but a realistic one in that the institutions that sustained a Traditional America have gone over to the other side. The Regime has indeed fundamentally transformed America in just six short years.

There is no such thing as gay rights. They have the same exact rights as everyone else with the exception thet the religious rights of the individual or company supercede their rights. You can come into my store, shop to your hearts content, but the minute you demand I agree to your lifestyle choice, you crossed a line provided to me in the Constitution.

You don’t like it, find another shop owner that does support your lifestyle choice.

My worst nightmare is to be forever locked in a room where a looped tape plays non-stop blatherings of shrill, motor-mouth, boring Perino and rapid-fire, squeaky, mousy, hardly-audible Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

Greg needs to sit down an examine his belief system.

Because if he doesn't understand whats at stake specific to the Indiana law and gay bully political tactics in general he's not much of a thinking libertarian.

Homosexuals have the same rights as anyone else. What they demand is that new rights be created specifically for them. No go.

It is time to reform divorce laws as well, dialing back the liberalization of marriage that started in the early 70s with no fault divorce. I am glad to see this cause, which attacks the beginning of the nation’s war on marriage, be taken up by conservatives in Iowa and other states.

I don’t watch Obama guard dog Fx News anymore. Regarding issues like Indiana’s Religious Freedom Law, has Fx mentioned the protections of Section 1 of the 14th Amendment?
14th Amendment, Section 1:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Note that the “privileges or immunities” term which John Bingham, the main author of Section 1 used in that section, is just another way to refer to constitutionally enumerated rights, most of these well-known rights listed in the Bill of Rights.

I've read one of Gutfeld's books, and despite him being an admitted atheist, he claims to like Christian conservatives. He did come out of a very liberal background as a graduate a Cal-Berkeley.

He said he was converted to conservative politics over the years by observing how most liberal policies failed. But obviously there's still a few things about conservatism he doesn't understand.
