I was riding my bike with the kids and unfortunately we rode through the Ombamaville area, at a restaurant there was a sign that said, 'We accept EBT', but then at an urban clothing store and at a Ross Clothing store, both had 'We accept EBT'.
I didn't know shoes were food...

A president who could even so much as enact a policy where EBT cards and other food stamps could only be used for the basic necessities, in terms of food or water, needed to stay alive and public housing could only be the bare minimum needed to have a roof over your head would be nothing short of a miracle worker. The vast majority of Republican presidential hopefuls simply do not and would not have it in them to even get that far.

That is because people also get their cash (welfare) benefits on the same card as their food stamps.
Of course this doesn’t mean dishonest businesses don’t use the food stamp money for non-food items.
I have food stamps and only once have I bought something with the food stamps that wasn’t allowable and that was not my fault. The cashier rang up the bag of dog food as grocery and didn’t reverse it when I told her about it. So I used the cash to buy something else I really needed.
Since then I always do two transactions so I don’t have to worry. That and if I am using my debit card ( rarely have more than $20 in my account) I don’t use the wrong card first and overdraw my account.
