I’m wondering about Pence’s chances for a second term as Governor of Indiana? He’s had two major controversies and backpedals just in 2015. He had to publicly kill the ill-conceived “state news site” a couple months ago, and now he’s stumbled in defending the RFRA law in Indiana.
I’m not saying everything is his fault. I actually think he seems to be a good guy, as far a politicians go. But he’s taking a lot of lumps in a short period of time. And I’m not sure it’s going all blow over by 2016. Especially if Limbaugh’s take is correct.
As I replied to dfwgator, Pence is in trouble. He is a little like Bush 41. He followed a very popular and competent governor, Mitch Daniels. Pence’s heart is in the right place, but he’s not nearly as politically competent as Daniels, and is light years away from him in administrative competency.
Don’t forget the simmering cesspool over at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. That branch of Indiana government has never run right, but right now its a bigger mess than I can ever remember. This is all on Pence.
Normally I’d think the dems will run Joe Hogsett, but he’s running for mayor of Indy this year, and I don’t think he can turn around and start a campaign for governor before he’s even elected mayor. Fortunately for Pence, the GOP has taken over state elected offices so extensively the dems don’t have any really viable candidates at the state level. That might be the only thing that saves Pence in ‘16.

He has shown himself to be not of the right stuff. He got his opportunity, he blew it. Oh well. Next.
