Indiana: The Holy War of the Left
American Conservative ^ | March 31, 2015 | Rod Dreher

Today’s Indianapolis Star front page uses the headline approach usually reserved for war. Because that’s what this is: culture war, and the mainstream media, as a vital part of the progressive movement, is waging total war for a cause they believe is holy. I’m not exaggerating. To most of the media, there is no other side in the gay marriage debate, or on anything to do with gay rights. There is only Good and Evil. And so we have the spectacle of a moral panic that makes a party that is a chief beneficiary of the First Amendment — a newspaper — taking unprecedented steps to suppress a party that is the other chief beneficiary of the First Amendment: religious dissenters. In my experience, it is impossible to overstate how sacred this cause is to American elites, especially journalists.

“The Republican Party has got to stand firm for an American value as fundamental as religious liberty against the left’s witch-hunting hysteria.”

Sorry to say this but you will be disappointed. The Chamber of Commerce wing will win out. The big money GOP supporters are way left to the GOP voter on social issues. Unlike the Democratic coalition where each grouping backs the other the Big Business wing of the GOP has no problem throwing the SoCons under the bus when it suits them. When has the GOP as a party sided with Traditionalists when there was a conflict with the Chamber of Commerce wing? Probably there will be once again as with other social issues for the past 30+ years the kabuki theater of the GOP politicians voicing support for Indiana but doing nothing substantial.

“There is only Good and Evil.”

Who gets to decide what is “good” and what is “evil”? That particular battle is not yet finished, but from my perspective, there are a lot of things that are “evil” - abortion as a form of birth control, spending our children’s and grandchildren’s legacy, denial of accumulated wisdom, hard-won over the centuries in both blood and treasure, embracing the twin monstrosities known as “political correctness” and “moral equivalence” - the list continues, but people should get the drift.

Conversely, the concepts of personal responsibility abide - thrift, maintaining a formal and cordial relationship even with those of whom express different and even hostile views, and in essence, keeping to the “cowboy code”, a largely unwritten gentleman’s agreement of mutual respect and guarded relationships with strangers.

If certain groups can force businesses to create things for them they find objectionable i.e. homo wedding cakes, then where does it stop?

By that "logic," businesses would be forced to create and sell to prospective buyers any kind of perverted design or product whether they, the businesses, find it disgusting or not. No business would be allowed to discriminate.

Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

In context, “woe” essentially means “damned.”

I sometimes shop at a local grocery store owned by Christians. They do not sell alcohol. Can the government force them to sell alcohol?

I really see a time in the not-to-distant future when Christian churches are forced to marry homosexuals or risk losing their tax-exempt status. I will happen - just a matter of time.

I don't think liberals realize what they are demanding. If they can force Christian bakeries to bake cakes with homosexual themes, by the same "logic" they can force them to marry homosexuals. They can force any business to provide an exact service to any group that demands it. No exceptions allowed.

Except, of course, liberals don't really believe that. Liberals and liberal groups routinely refuse business from groups they don't like. They would never force a homosexual business to provide services to Christian groups they don't like. In short, they're hypocrites.
