WALKER TOUGHENS IMMIGRATION POSITION AFTER SETBACKS
Breitbart ^ | March 27, 2015 | by MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 03/29/2015 11:11:08 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

After some setbacks over the past several weeks, top aides to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker tell Breitbart News that he’s toughening up his immigration position as he learns more about the issue.

“He’s for border security first, enforce the laws on the books, fix legal immigration system with national interest in mind and then deal with those here,” Walker spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski said in an email.

Kukowski’s comments to Breitbart News come after a trip Walker took on Friday to the border with Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

A lot depends on what the governor means by a: “legal immigration system with national interest in mind.” Still, this could be a step toward Walker remaking his image on immigration in the manner of Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest chairman Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

The question becomes: What does Walker think is a legal immigration system that serves the national interest? While he hasn’t laid that out yet, there’s a massive opportunity for either success—or failure—depending on where he comes down on this matter.

“He looks forward to further detailing his ideas on securing the border and enforcing the laws,” Kukowski added. “Yes, at the minimum, there needs to be penalties put in place. In addition to securing our borders, the federal government must enforce our laws, penalize those who break the law including paying back taxes, and implement a universal E-Verify system so employers are hiring legal employees.”

Where Walker comes down on the immigration system could make or break his candidacy...

“politically active conservative evangelicals who want a less showy but more reliable champion”

The gay marriage movement is crushing its opponents and when the judge in WI legalized it, Walker accepted it and did not support appeal.

Do the business elites like Tim Cook of Apple intimidate Walker, too?

A religious freedom bill was killed in Georgia’s Republican controlled legislature no doubt under business pressure.

Governor Bentley would not support Justice Moore in his order on gay marriage because he was afraid of Alabama losing “jobs”. Elite business intimidation again.

The gay marriage movement’s ultimate goal is forcing all individuals, businesses and institutions into endorsing their view of marriage and sexuality.

There is no First Amendment in their book.

The Corporatism converging big government and big business in this country is behind other things like Amnesty, Common Core and Obamacare.

Walker and I agree with corporatists on curbing union excess but its on the other issues is where Walker proves to us all sooner or later if he is with the people or the corporatists.

that’s absolutely untrue. If we elect a pro-amnesty conservative, he’ll govern well in other areas too,and we’ll have an improvement.

Yes. I do find it odd that THAT is the ONLY source I’ve ever (since it was written, in 2013) seen with those *quotes*. I can’t even find a video of Cruz’ speech, where he made those statements.

The gay marriage movement is crushing its opponents and when the judge in WI legalized it, Walker accepted it and did not support appeal.

"Without explanation, the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rejected appeals from Wisconsin and four other states seeking to preserve their same-sex marriage bans, setting up an immediate and historic return for those unions here but leaving unanswered the broader question of the practice at the national level.

In the order, the high court provided no breakdown of how the nine justices had voted and no reason for rejecting the appeals from Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen and officials in the states of Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah and Virginia. The action surprised legal observers by signaling that the nation's highest court favors the side of same-sex marriage advocates but without actually stating that or establishing a precedent for the rest of the nation.

The court's order allows gay marriage in Wisconsin and these other states, said Van Hollen and Gov. Scott Walker, the top state Republican officials who had sought to preserve the ban. Walker, a defendant in Wisconsin's case, said he would work to implement the decision and Van Hollen encouraged others to respect it, as well.

"For us, it's over in Wisconsin," Walker said of the fight over same-sex unions. "Others will have to talk about the federal level." Source

Has Cruz discounted that this is not his position?

Nope. A pro-amnesty (otherwise) conservative president will get Republicans to back amnesty to a larger degree than a Democrat can.

And, with all of those inevitable new, low-skill, affirmative action-favored and welfare-benefitting voters we’ll never have a conservative president or a conservative Congressional majority again.

Ever. Any actual conservative gains that such a president achieves will be more than wiped away by those following him.

I’m not even sure if he’s been asked (or knows) about something from TX Tribune. Maybe we can find out.

What happens after we’ve hammered all our good conservatives?

You’re slighting a good man and a great conservative.

Once Cruz and Walker are out of the way, who gets elected?

I’ll tell you what chemobrain is like. I read your post and kept thinking.....why would illegals go to a British Petroleum gas station for help with deportation?? For several minutes I thought that.

I’m not so sure he’s opposed to amnesty like you think he is. Don’t attack me. I just don’t see that.

True. Sadly Obama has dumped Hispanics in almost every suburb of major cities. When he came to Nashville he made certain to eat over on Nolensville Rd, and; then he announced he was making funds available for assistance and so called citizenship test literature.

I get the impression, sorry to say, that he’s posturing about this for the election, and not from true conviction. I could be wrong! It, ahem, would not be the first time. (rolling eyes) But that’s the impression I’m getting.

Since you don’t believe that quote in the Texas Tribune, would you please tell me what you understand Cruz’s position to be on dealing with the illegals in the country now?

Thanks.

You negate your own argument when you say such silly things. Cruz was never an illegal, so HOW would this apply to him? It wouldn’t. Now back to explaining, logically, your own view about Walker.
I’m listening, for now, but if you get too crazy, of course no one will be listening.

More “Whitehouse Road” Conversion from the guy who voted to support amnesty in 2002 and 2006.

How can he be trusted?

He doesn’t seem like a bad guy, he seems like a good guy, except on this one issue. If the media all of the sudden, don’t fight him, or try to bring him down, we know something is wrong though.

I am getting the whiff of he’ll do whatever it takes to get elected though.
