The whole point of the popular website Angies List is that it is supposed to provide ratings and reviews of contractors, mechanics, dentists and the like based purely on customer experience, referring to itself in the company membership agreement as a passive conduit. But according to one Philadelphia woman, Angies List is anything but.

Social media is a candy store to fraudsters.
Angie’s List has threatened to withdraw its business from Indiana because of its recent religious freedom law. Who’s discriminating against whom, Angie? The lawsuit alleges that Angie fraudulently promotes contractors who “cross her palm with silver.”
Their boycott of Indiana shows them to be anything but passive.
Boycott Indiana and i’ll boycott you. I don’t live in Indiana nor have I ever, but I value my religious freedom
Oh, that’s been my take for quite some time. I received a complimentary AL magazine and it’s all advertising with no feedback.
Angie’s List is not much better than the BBB scam. Maybe worse.
“Angie, Angie, when will those clouds all disappear?”
As a general rule, I usually shy away from women with more gum than teeth.
You can tell that Angie is all about her....her personality reeks of it on those commercials. ...this bound to happen sooner or later....contracting is a dynamic business...and contractors I have recently use depend more on Cross the Border employees while charging the same...and do the work...well...it is hit and miss in most cases. ..even Angie’s List competition has you fill out personal info just to see their list...and is it even valid???
Man I wish FR had a like button...
A friend of mine got a contractor off of AL to install sliding doors. In the process, the contractors destroyed their glass dining room table and gouged their new hardwood floors.
The friend said people from AL called and tried to persuade him not to leave a negative review.
Made me wonder if the contractors pay AL for good reviews.
bump!
I’m glad it does not.
All I can say is, “do not use her dentist”
you're probably right or they pay to 'lose' unfavorable comments....seems that way with yelp in recent days...
...and now the guy running this operation MAKES A SPECTACLE of himself by trying to teach Indiana a “lesson in tolerance”, as he no-doubt, sees it.
Leave after having your girl-friend text-in a fabulous review to AL. Repeat often.
* Last year's Mexicans are usually not too bad. The careful contractor uses the newest possible Mexicans, factoring in the MDOF (The Mexican Do-Over Factor) paying minimal wages while training the crew. 2-3 tries and that tile (drywall, painting job, roof will be just swell!) Not to worry. The consumer pays and cleans up the work area.
