How about false advertising? How many times have I heard their ads say, “No (contractor) can pay to be on Angie’s list”, or words to that effect? This article directly disputes that claim.
It seems that Angie charges both subscribers and the companies she recommends.
Angie’s list and Angie are liars. I can state just after the statue of Hussein was taken down the college kids at Vanderbilt who worked part time for Angie called me from a Vandy phone. They asked who my favorite HVAC contractor was. Well,they called my HVAC man and got his wife who runs the business. She called and told me they wanted money for them to advertise. She asked what did I think about paying. I told her that they advertised no contractor pays. She did not pay for an ad. I dumped Angie’s list during the trial period.
