When Pope Francis last year effectively demoted U.S. Cardinal Raymond Burke by moving him out of a senior post in the Vatican to a largely ceremonial role as head of a Rome-based Catholic charity, it was viewed as a way to sideline one of the pontiffs most outspoken critics on the right ...
Now the American churchman has spoken out again, telling an interviewer that gay couples and divorced and remarried Catholics who are trying to live good and faithful lives are still like the person who murders someone and yet is kind to other people. ...

All you did was hand pick the article with the headline.
You had the link to the actual interview right in front of you.
When I look for an article to post, my criteria is, “Is it interesting?”
Sometimes I have a position, an opinion, on what I post, and sometimes I don’t.
This is one of those case where I don’t have an opinion. I’m not a Catholic, therefore I would probably be viewed as unqualified and presumptuous to comment on this.
Do you want me to have the Admin delete this thread and have me post the LSN article instead?
As drastic as that seems, the title is totally fake, so it amounts to a flame thread.
As the evening goes on, all it will do will be generating flames, yet all of that energy and anger, and fighting will be about something that doesn’t even exist, he never said it.
Not going to comment on the context of the article but after reading it, the headline sure took a large amount of license.....
I guess it’s ok to put words in people’s mouth...
I saw that thread then, it was about the actual interview and the word murder never showed up, nor would it or should it.
This is a fake thread.
I’ll take your word for it. I’ve requested that the thread be deleted.
Like any other faith all Catholics don’t agree. I’m Catholic and I don’t agree with everything the Pope says and I don’t agree with with everything Burke says either. I am not alone.
I doubt this story is being reported exactly as the good cardinal’s original words were spoken. They seen irrational to me. I assume he is is talking about being in a sinful state and not repenting - or some such thing.
They are all mortal sins.
uhhhhh, John, Judith, Maryanne, Fred....whatever their names are
I be one. A bastard. I can live with it.
Misleading headline.
Frequently, headlines are not intended to inform but rather to grab your attention. I’m not saying it’s right but I am saying that that’s how it frequently is.
It's really interesting to ask a question like this and see the replies.
One interview, two headlines:
Jeanne Smits, Life Site News
Cardinal Burke says confusion spreading among Catholics in an alarming way
David Gibson, Religion News Service
Cardinal Raymond Burke: Gays, remarried Catholics, murderers are all the same
As expected, the Cardinal Burke attacks are getting started.
(not meaning you, Eveningstar)
Whether he said it or not, the statement is FACT.
Practicing sodomites, remarried Catholics, murderers have all committed a MORTAL SIN!! Do I have to repeat myself.
Since the situation isn’t of the children’s making, one minds one’s own business.
