On the other hand it doesn’t appear that the Ax was effective in breaking down the door now was it?

What a selfish bastard Tomato Andy was. Go jump off a bridge, OD or hang yourself. Don’t take babies, kids and other innocents with you.

This is interesting from Drudge:

http://www.naturalnews.com/049137_Germanwings_depression_antidepressant_drugs.html#

“FAA bans pilots from flying while on antidepressant drugs
Antidepressant drugs are so dangerous that the FAA bans U.S. pilots from taking them. They are considered a danger to the pilot and passengers. I’m not certain whether antidepressants are illegal for pilots to consume in various European countries, but it wouldn’t be difficult for someone to be acquiring them and taking them covertly, even if it were illegal.”

if it relates to these Psychotropic(sp?)drugs I feel for the guys anguish but detest the side effects and his actions.IMOP the key lies with his Dr.
Especially if the Dr. was aware that Tomato’s job was he was responsible for 100’s of other lives.
Thats what the tele is for..He needed to be reported to the airline safety people

If so Dr is culpable

I can think of one - if the plane is on fire and the doors are too hot to escape - then an axe could cut another opening for the passengers. Just a thought.

Of course! What I find interesting is how people think (or not think) and how many people just “assume” there was an ax just laying around that anyone could grab. :-).

I find this thread fascinating to see how people think or not about such things. Battering ram? Like where is that stored? Then why use a battering ram when you could just use small explosives? Explosives? Nah. Just use a welding torch to cut thru the door. Ha ha.

Some German pilot called into Hannity today and said the axe is in the cockpit but there is a crowbar near the rear of the plane so maybe that is what he was using.

And can you really hack your way out of a plane with an axe?

Yes.

Most crash axes, although built to double as fire axes, are more along the lines of a hatchet in size, ranging between 16” and 20” long with a hatchet or tomahawk sized head. The smaller size allows them to be stowed easily and makes them easier to use inside the confines of an aircraft. Several types of FAA approved crash axes exist, but the average size envelope remains the same.

First order of the FAA under a new administration is to allow these axes in carryon, followed by personalizing the TSA aka privatize ‘em.

I seriously doubt that any police action could be taken in an 8 minute envelope considering determining threat, court orders and tracing.
