A few years ago a Fedex pilot planned to commit suicide by crashing a DC10 into Fedex in Memphis. He got a ride with the regular crew and attacked the pilot with an ice ax, thinking it would look like inpact injuries.
He fought the crew for half an hour as the 2 pilots tried to stop him and fly the plane. Both pilots were injured to the extent they can never fly a plane again. The guy is in jail for life.

The crew replaced an older captain and female pilot who had timed out by one minute when their flight arrived, the perp had planned to fly with them, thinking it would be easier to overpower them.

They haven’t found the other black box (data recorder). I thought these things had pingers.

Oh, they found it. It just didn't have the sim card to record the data. Or it somehow came out during impact, which I find kind of hard to believe.

Nope still no names..and Im surprised by that since with Malaysia Airlines they released the names right away..I would assume that since the plane was German that the pilots were German..they can’t say its because families of the pilots were not notified they already know their family members were aboard that plane so Im not getting the big secret here

The cockpit door is set to “normal” which means that the only way back in is with a code(That way a passenger can’t get in the plane..I think this became standard after 9/11) if its set to “Lock” even with a code the pilot wouldn’t be able to get back in, that would assume that the person inside set it to lock so the pilot couldn’t get back in..no way did a medical emergency cause this this was a deliberate act

“And this is the downside of those reinforced cockpit doors when the problem is inside the cockpit”

From CNN ( which this is a continuous story):

nvestigators trying to determine what caused the crash of Germanwings Flight 9525 have made a startling discovery in an audio recording, according to a New York Times report: One of the plane’s pilots was locked out of the cockpit before the crash.

“You can hear he is trying to smash the door down,” a senior military official involved in the investigation told the newspaper, describing audio from the cockpit voice recorder, one of the plane’s black boxes.

“We don’t know yet the reason why one of the guys went out,” the official said, according to the Times’ report. “But what is sure is that at the very end of the flight, the other pilot is alone and does not open the door.”

Lufthansa, the parent company of Germanwings, said it was looking into the report.

“We have no information from the bodies investigating the incident that would corroborate the report in the New York Times,” spokesman Boris Ogursky said. “We will not participate in speculation, but we will follow up on the matter.”

The Times’ report is a “terribly shocking revelation,” CNN aviation analyst Peter Goelz said. But he and other experts cautioned that it’s still unclear what could have been going on inside the cockpit.

Possibilities range from a medical emergency to something more nefarious, like a suicide mission, CNN aviation analysts said.

Officials previously said that hadn’t ruled out terrorism, but it seems unlikely.

French authorities revealed earlier Wednesday that they’d been able to access audio from the recorder, even though its external casing was damaged.

But they disclosed few details about what the recording actually contained, saying only that there was one audio channel with voices on it that went all the way up to the time of the crash.

“It is too early to draw conclusions to what happened,” said Remi Jouty, head of the BEA, the French aviation investigative arm leading the probe. “There is going to be detailed work performed on that audio file to understand and interpret the sounds and the voices that can be heard.”

Finding the plane’s second black box will also be critical to understanding the mystery of what went on inside the jet.

That box, the flight data recorder, hasn’t been found yet, but Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr said Wednesday that there’s a high probability it will be.

I heard that the pilot on the outside of the door was at first quiet in his request to be let in and then he started shouting and pounding the door.

No response was heard from inside the cockpit.

>>A newspaper report, however, suggests the audio contains intriguing information at the least: One of the pilots is heard leaving the cockpit, then banging on the door with increasing urgency in an unsuccessful attempt to get back in.

“The guy outside is knocking lightly on the door and there is no answer,” The New York Times quotes an unidentified investigator as saying. “And then he hits the door stronger and no answer. There is never an answer.”

Eventually, the newspaper quotes the investigator as saying: “You can hear he is trying to smash the door down.”

>>French officials said terrorism appeared unlikely and Germany’s top security official said there was no evidence of foul play.

Did somebody put a chip in everybody’s head? Why are jihadist the last conclusion?

I was reading the Huffington Post. Most of them want the investigation to play out. They deride each other for jumping to any conclusions and becoming armchair detectives. I think that is Islamic sympathizers way not to admit that this was probably the work of sadistic terrorists who wanted slam another plane into oblivion but this time with passengers who would experienced extended torture.

Does the voice recorder show the pilot yelling Allah Hu Akbar?

Reminds me of the old SAC rule around nuclear weapons. They had "no lone man" areas so no one would ever be alone around a nuclear weapon...

I have a feeling it wasn’t Wei Tu Lo this time. More like Al Hu Akbar.

A few years ago a Fedex pilot planned to commit suicide by crashing a DC10 into Fedex in Memphis.

From the Wikipedia:

Auburn Calloway, a Federal Express employee facing possible dismissal for lying about his reported flight hours, boarded the scheduled flight as a deadheading passenger with a guitar case carrying several hammers and a speargun. He intended to disable the aircraft's cockpit voice recorder before take-off and, once airborne, kill the crew with hammers so their injuries would appear consistent with an accident rather than a hijacking. The speargun would be a last resort. He would then crash the aircraft while just appearing to be an employee killed in an accident. This would make his family eligible for a $2.5 million life insurance policy paid by Federal Express.[1]

He got life twice over. Does that mean he has to wait until his second life is over before he can vote Democrat?

We’ll never know of course. But I suspect this is the same thing that happened on mh370.

Sure seems that way.

The interesting point about MH370 is that the co-pilot's phone, which had been turned off prior to takeoff, made contact with a cell tower that the airplane passed after breaking off contact with ATC. That suggests the co-pilot turned his phone back on after being locked out. I suppose being locked out would be a good reason to turn on your phone, even if no service was available at the point in the flight.

So... no names released and no statement as to which of the two was locked out, eh? Hmmmm......

They will shortly have to post a list of all the passengers and crew that were aboard when the plane went down. Then we will know.
