Does anyone know if an officer is trained to move to the blind side (probably right side in most cases of a downed suspect) so that if they do have a gun and roll onto their right side so that their right hand can come up with a gun that was underneath them, will the officer be in the shooter’s blindspot?
I’ll also ask my son, a former federal police officer.

In an interview with CNN, U.S. Marshal Scott Malkowski said that when marshals approached [Eric] Frein he was prone on the ground but was looking up at the marshals. Standard protocol, Malkowski said, is to have the suspect look away from law enforcement, so he cannot anticipate their moves.
