Bill Clinton was impeached but was not removed from off. Impeachment (voted on by the House) is the rough equivalent of being accused. The vote for removal (voted on by the Senate) is the rough equivalent of conviction and is what removes the pension.

Total ignorant about the military at the NY Times.

I should be shocked, but I’m not shocked. OF COURSE, the NYT is totally ignorant about the military.

Thanks.

I think the question I should have asked is what will be his sentence?

Another question is from what other action/story are they attempting to divert our attention?

If there is justice, he will get the honorable discharge from six rifles.

To a liberal desertion is like quitting a job without giving notice.

Only if a rope or a firing squad figures in an “honorable discharge”.

I was thinking life in front of a firing squad would be appropriate.

That would certainly be a short life. I heard Judge Napolitano say he did not think there would be a court martial until the Obungler is out of office. That will give him plenty of time to pardon Bergdahl. Somehow, I feel this is exactly what the Obungler will do. Otherwise, the whole thing makes him look bad, swapping the Taliban dream team, for a scum bag deserter. It does not look good for him.

@helenecooper How in the world do you think it’s an open question that Bergdahl could be convicted of desertion and be honorably discharged?

helenecooper
@helenecooper
@DrewMTips @helenecooper because he may not go to court martial. that’s still hasn’t been determined. he could go the article 10 route

...

@helenecooper Article 10? Article 10 deals with “restraint of persons charged with offenses.” http://www.ucmj.us/sub-chapter-2-apprehension-and-restraint/810-article-10-restraint-of-persons-charged-with-offenses … @DrewMTips

Stephen Sheiko @stephensheiko 3h3 hours ago
@helenecooper Did you perhaps mean Article 15 non-judicial punishment? @DrewMTips

To the NYT: No, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl will not get an honorable discharge for deserting his post in a combat zone. He will get prison time and a dishonorable discharge. Since he deserted in a war zone, he will be lucky not to get the death penalty.

I find it imminently fascinating that these liberal writers... who have spent years painting veterans as creeps, psychos and junkies... completely disregard the likelihood that Bergdahl is a creep, psycho and heroin junkie.

I am certain that if he is convicted of anything, he will get a Presidential pardon, after all the Big Zero has a legacy to protect.
