The Amish know the zoning laws and building codes.
We had a Lancaster County family that refused
To put in an indoor toilet in the home. The case went
On until the judge had a stand off with the old
Amish man. The judge tossed the lawbreaker
In jail. You cannot have 2 sets of laws.
( although they build schools for Amish with out houses this very day)
The outside burning laws are ignored by Amish.
They burn whatever and whenever they like.
That’s right. You can’t have one set of laws that forbids the government from prohibiting the free exercise of religion (1st and 14th Amendments) and second that does just that.
BTW, I like the poetic layout of your post.

Why shouldn’t they?
Burning is natural, clean and effective.
This country is turning to manure.
Was their house there before the zoning laws?
Is their property highly desirable?
Did the government know anything about this secret group of people and their very obscure practice of eschewing modern conveniences as an integral part of their faith?
And most importantly: WHO WERE THEY HURTING, ENDANGERING, OR OTHERWISE ENCROACHING ON????
No one can serve two masters.
