I hope so.

But the states and the people need to get back on board with ownership of THEIR Constitution and THEIR freedom. It doesn’t belong to the feds or anyone else. We’ve got to own it and defend it at all costs.

If Cruz can help us do that, great. But he can’t do it FOR us.

But one thing I've noticed is that this quest -- in some cases it's a quest; in other cases, another reason for it -- this quest for perfection that seems to possess or obsess many conservative groups leads them to nitpick and find a single issue or maybe two that conservative candidate X is supposedly wrong on, and they immediately launch into criticism. And when conservatives launch criticism of conservative candidates, the media just eats it up. They just love it, and they glom onto it, and they amplify it even more than their own criticism...and there you have it......

Sourkrauthammer is a conservative?

I do agree with him that Walker is the most qualified choice, but Kraut is a Bush Republican.

Re: “This quest for perfection that seems to possess or obsess many conservative groups leads them to nitpick and find a single issue or maybe two that conservative candidate X is supposedly wrong on, and they immediately launch into criticism.”

Count me in on that, Rush.

Immigration is my Number One issue.

Cruz fails my test. And he fails it badly.

2000 - Cruz co-wrote G.W. Bush's position paper on immigration.

2006 - That position paper became the template for the Bush-McCain Amnesty. Important note - Cruz has never supported “a path to citizenship,” like Bush and McCain did.

2012 - During his Texas campaign for US Senate, Cruz publicly supported more low skill guest worker visas for Texas ranchers and farmers.

2013 - Cruz introduces multiple Amendments to the Gang of Eight Amnesty. One Amendment asked for a 5X increase for allegedly “high tech” work visas. Those foreign workers would compete directly against American born workers, and the excess competition would force down the already stagnant wages for software engineers. A second Amendment asked for a 2X increase in the number of Green Cards issued each year - we already allow about 1.25 million permanent LEGAL immigrants each year. Cruz's Amendment would increase that to 2 million.

2013 - Cruz gives a speech in El Paso and tells the crowd he would have voted “YES” on the Gang of Eight Amnesty if border security was “certified,” and if there was “no path to citizenship.” He tells the crowd that he has never supported deportation of illegal immigrants as long as they broke no other laws after arriving in the USA.

No serious person can believe that a Democrat President, or Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio or Rand Paul, will vigorously enforce border security. “No path to citizenship” is also completely bogus. The Federal Court system will throw that provision out 15 minutes after the first lawsuit is filed. If not, then millions of Hispanic Democrats will be in the streets each election screaming “Racism” at the GOP.

2015 - Since taking office, Cruz has done nothing to slow down our current rate of LEGAL immigration (1.25 million per year) or the current rate for new citizens (750,000 per year, and 80% of them vote Democrat).

A big reason Obama didn’t fizzle in his campaign(s) is that he is “No Drama Obama.” He didn’t let criticism bother him and often used it as a lever to his advantage. Obama, then and now, never lets criticism bother him because he doesn’t care what other people think. He couldn’t care less.

"No Brain Hussein" hates criticism, but he just doesn't often show it publicly.

So who are these “conservatives” that are attacking Cruz?

All the garbage I’ve been hearing lately isn’t coming from conservatives. It’s essentially all coming from the Beltway...

Cruz just caring enough about the Lord to not care about being panned by the secular world is half the battle.

We should hang on to our hats. Maybe his campaign will be like a Palm Sunday. But a Good Friday could be coming up, so to speak. At any rate, the devil won’t just lie there from the first punch he gets and applaud. A vicious fight lies ahead at the least.

Support can’t be shallow, secular, self-interest support or it isn’t going to go very far, that is to be sure.

It has to be about dedication to the Lord to have staying power, and by definition that is repenting (we are all sinners).

“CK has NEVER been a conservative”

That’s for sure. Unless writing speeches for Walter Mondale in the attempt to defeat Ronald Reagan somehow makes one “a conservative”.

Charles Krauthammer is just one more 1960s liberal Democrat masquerading as a “conservative”. Like Michael Medved and several others I can think of.

No surprise to see them attacking Cruz.

“Thomas Paine was an atheist.”

Thomas Paine arrived in America just in time for the Revolution and didn’t stay long. By 1790 he had moved to France to join their atheistic revolution. He is significant as an American pamphleteer but didn’t have a strong connection to the country. Ethan Allen would be a better example of a homegrown atheist of that time.

“Many founders were deists.”

Historian M.E. Bradford researched the private papers of the the framers and the state ratifiers when he wrote “A Worthy Company: Brief Lives of the Framers of the United States Constitution”. He found that only a tiny number were deists. Franklin. Jefferson. Paine. The vast majority were members of Christian churches.

America’s salvation and restoration won’t be coming from some “savior-politician.”

No, it won't.

It will come form the people. The ordinary people who have been fed up with a Government that won't go by its own rules even as it imposes more on them, the taxpayers, who have been scraping by or busting butt to make it in spite of a government that seems to glory in finding ways to make every day harder than the one before it.

They've been ticked off for a decade, some for longer, and the only thing they lack is a rallying point, something short of picking up the squirrel rifle and starting a war we'd all likely lose.

Cruz represents that viable political option and provides a rallying point.

I think I'll leave the judgment concerning the motivation of Ted Cruz up to the Lord. Personally, I've seen nothing about his actions that would back up that type of accusation.
