Most “published findings” arise from someone’s theory.
But this must suffice in regard to the long-lived castes and nations who are said to exist for a very long period either on account of their soil and climate, or their diet, or both. I can fittingly show you that your good hopes are of easy attainment by recounting that on every soil in every clime men who observe the proper exercise and the diet most sutiable for health have been long-lived.

MACROBIOIO means "long-lived ones" from MACROBIOS, "long-lived", which is of course the root of "macrobiotic". For some reason, the translator chose to call the essay OCTOGENARIANS. He also opines that the work is falsely attributed to Lucian, but it remains among his works since, "... It is valuable, however, as a document, and not uninteresting in spots."
