The big news here in Peoria is the downfall of our Congressman Aaron Schock. What a tragedy!
The guy had such a bright future. He began making money in 5th grade. He started his own IRA by age 14. He finished all his required high school requirements in 2 years, but they wouldn’t let him graduate, so he earned dual credits for high school and College by attending community college. He got his BS in finance at Bradley in 2 years. During college he invested in real estate, and setup a franchise business.
While attending Bradley, he ran for school board as a write-in. His ground game was so organized, he defeated an incumbent with 60% of the votes as write-ins. At age 23 he was elected President of the School board, the youngest in Illinois history.
While still age 23 he ran for Illinois house and defeated a four term incumbent in a heavy democratic district by less than 400 votes, becoming the youngest member of Illinois general assembly in history.
When Ray Lahood retired in 2008 Schock easily won the congressional seat and became the youngest Congressman in history at age 27.
His name came up often about a future Illinois Senator, or even Governor.
He was most likely a millionaire even before he went to Congress with all his business savvy and interests. He did a lot of stupid egotistical things like posting pictures etc., but what seems to have been the straw last week that broke the camels back was he padded his expense reports reporting 170,000 reimbursable miles when his vehicle only shows about 70,000 miles. Now the FBI is investigating, and he could go to prison.
Needless to say everyone around here is (excuse the pun) SHOCKED.
The good news is the seat is safe. A special election will be held in July and the most likely successor is State Senator Darin Lahood, Ray’s son. Incidentally, Darin is much more conservative than his Father.
Thought I’d drop a post to thank you for the commentary.
Most interesting.
Here in Delaware the world discovers that Joe Biden is a hands-everywhere creep turd.
So, congressman Schock pads his expense report, reporting 170,000 reimbursable miles instead of 70,000.
Meanwhile, other members of Congress make millions from insider trading, and then you’ve got Dianne Feinstein’s husband getting a $1 billion contract to sell off post office’s and another $1 billion to build high speed rail in California that no one wants, plus all the contracts she funneled to Blum, her husband, when Feinstein was on the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Then there’s Harry Reid and all of his corrupt dealings.
What a country!
