Matter of fact, I do believe the Bible tells that God says refrain from eating cloven-hoof animals like pigs and also scavenger birds I believe.

There are what are referred to as the Levitical laws that did have such restriction on food..... then there is the lifting of the restrictions in the New Testament.

Pigs and corvids [crow family] are more intelligent than dogs and will be just as true and good companion as any dog when treated well.

While I’m not fond of crow I’ll still eat pork because it’s just good. And I’m willing to eat dog — if my neighbor lets yellow lab out again and it attacks my ducks I’m going to make another dog rug and serve him up as chili.

“Rescuing” dogs from Korea is just a stupid waste of resources.

Some people don't eat meat at all.

Me, for example.

Has anyone ate dog meat?

I've been to some very strange places in China that are way off the beaten track and seen dog meat on restaurant menus many times. I've tried to order it (mostly to see what reaction I'd get as a non-Asian) and as soon as my order gets taken, some English speaking fellow comes out and says "no have dog meat". I have spoke with lots of Chinese who have eaten it, they consider it a delicious delicacy...mind you this is in China where the destitute times during the revolution meant that starvation was staring them in the face and the only option if they didn't eat whatever they could find. Hence the culture developed of feeling comfortable with eating anything on legs except the table.....

But it made them feel good to do it! They did their part, made themselves feel good, and better then the next person. What happens later, that’s on someone else. I’ve been looking for another dog. The amount on hand at the shelters etc. should make anyone upset. Even more upset to think most are probably given up because they have gotten old and now need medical care.

A cow isn’t happy to see you when you come home.

I see you never owned a cow. I had a family milk cow that loved me. She was constantly trying to lick me, and rub her head on me. She came when she was called, and followed me everywhere.

The smoke actually doesn’t have an odor...other than regular smoke. Burning cow dung is actually a mosquito deterrent.

I was at a flea market a while back. Cow dung was being sold in cute little bags and advertised as a mosquito repellant for the patio. Lots were being sold. I got a big chuckle out of it.

Ya think pigs have the same loyalty, sense and dedication to man and have contributed as much?

If ya ever lose your sight, get yourself a Guide Pig. Lemme know how that works out for ya.

I’m willing to eat dog

The cow manure subject reminds me that I have to go to Home Depot and pick up some cow manure for my raspberry and blue berry plants. It is just the stuff to kick them up a notch. I thank our nation’s cattle industry for providing all the cow manure we need. Other nations might not have it so good.

Will do Dragnet2

[[Pigs are often thought of as food rather than as intelligent pets that are actually cleanly and hygienic when kept that way by their owners. Pigs have been rated in some studies to be more intelligent then some breeds of dogs and as least as intelligent as any dog. Pet pigs have been known to have saved people’s lives.

Pigs have individual personalities and idiosyncrasies and
some believe them to be very good and interesting pets and
happily keep them in their homes.]]

Kelly says: “Matter of fact, I do believe the Bible tells that God says refrain from eating cloven-hoof animals like pigs and also scavenger birds I believe”

Sure if you’re jewish and you want to live in old testament times-

Acts 21:25 “But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written [and] decided that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from [things] offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

Mark 7:17 17 When He had entered a house away from the crowd, His disciples asked Him concerning the parable. 18 So He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, 19 “because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, [thus] purifying all foods?” 20 And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. 21 “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 “thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 “All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

Acts 10:9 The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour. 10 Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance 11 and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth. 12 In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air. 13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” 14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” 15 And a voice [spoke] to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” 16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

Here’s the dirt on pigs: They are perhaps the smartest, cleanest domestic animals known - more so than cats and dogs, according to some experts. But pigs don’t have sweat glands, so they roll around in the mud to stay cool. A sign of their cleverness came from experiments in the 1990s. Pigs were trained to move a cursor on a video screen with their snouts and used the cursor to distinguish between scribbles they knew and those they were seeing for the first time. They learned the task as quickly as chimpanzees.

I agree, and I feel the same way about horses. Both animals look to us as ‘leaders’, and give us their trust and loyalty.

Civilization was built upon the backs of horses, and it seems to me that we owe them a special place in our sensibilities; a place of honor. And not as much for the horse’s sake, as for our own, and the edification that a value like that brings with it.

Same with dogs.

I doubt that, even in cultures where some will eat these animals, true horsemen or observant and understanding dog owners will; except perhaps in the direst of circumstances.

(My grandmother’s second husband had some involvement in the Boxer Rebellion, and related stories of men having to eat their horses. As the story came down to me, it was relayed as a horrifying thing to the men to have to do.)

[[Bomb-sniffing pigs to protect settlements]]

[[
“Pigs’ sense of smell is far more developed than that of dogs,” explained Kuti Ben-Yaakov of the Jewish Legion, a volunteer security organization that floated the idea.

“Boars could be better than dogs in finding mines and explosives,” Geva Zin, a former trainer of sniffer dogs, agreed in an interview with the Israeli magazine, Israel Insider. “Look at their noses! God designed them to go into the field and find mines.”

Read more at http://www.wnd.com/2003/10/21495/#Idp3XZcouMKydDJ2.99]]

So now we’re all of a sudden throwing new criteria such as ‘home protection’ as a qualifier for what is or isn’t considered food? And just for the record, rats have been trained to sniff out bombs as well, and make loyal pets too- what’s your point?

Whatever fella- you don’t wanna eat dogs? Fine, be my guest- a dog is just a soul-less animal just like all other animals- enjoy your next ham sandwhich
