No, it's not okay. Civilized people don't eat dogs unless they're starving to death. Given the high intelligence and nature of dogs towards man, it's nothing a civilized people would do unless they have nothing else.
pigs are actually quite intelligent too- guess we should; give up pork to eh? Only ‘dumb’ animals qualify as food? lol

The Bible forbids the eating of pork but I've never come across anything relating to dog or cat either (lapin de toit) for that matter.
Dog and man are symbiotic creatures which are beneficial to one another's survival as species. I don't think dog should be at the top of anyone's menu. That said, if things get tough, protein is protein.
Maybe God was smart enough where he felt he provided enough intelligence for people which would allow them to readily recognize a dog’s intelligence, loyalty and contributions to civilized people.

There is some validity in what you say but when God
granted humans dominion over other creatures I don’t
think he meant for those creatures to necessarily be
utilized for similar purposes.
Instead of animal shelters putting strays to sleep, sell them to the Koreans to eat and the shelters might just become profitable instead of a tax consumer.
I wonder if dog meat smells as bad as a dog’s breath and tastes as bad as the slop off a dog’s tongue? Has anyone ate dog meat?

In India, cow pies, as we call them, are used to make fires for cooking and heating. I can’t imagine what the smoke smells like.
If it has 4 legs and hair, it is food somewhere on this planet. For human kind, anything short of granite is food.
Cows and bulls are herbivores, making them natural prey meat.
Dogs and cats, OTOH, are predators.
I wonder if the number of dogs eaten has gone down in ROK as the population has become more Westernized. Out of a population of 50 MM that means the average person only consumes 4% of a dog a year, I know a bit of a macabre statistic. Is it just the older generations who still eat dog?
I don’t see this as being different from any other sort of ranching. Some animals are pets, other animals are food. There is no hard and fast rule about which side of the line a particular species should fall on.
I don’t imagine that dog meat would be to my taste; but I’m not going to waggle a finger at Koreans for eating it.
The only thing my cats ever said to me was “feed me you fool”. My dogs and I have long, loving conversations every day.
So were Buffalo chips and cow chips here in the USA back about 150 years ago. If you have ever seen dry horse dung burn you will realize it burns HOT and could be used for barbeque fuel.
Matter of fact, I do believe the Bible tells that God says refrain from eating cloven-hoof animals like pigs and also scavenger birds I believe.
